SINGER-SONGWRITER ALANNA CLARKE RELEASES SULTRY NEW TRACK “LINGER”

“Linger started out with this low fi rough track with some grungy bass and drums that I wrote the verse and chorus ideas over,” Alanna explained. “I brought it into the studio to show my producers and they immediately understood the vibe. We wrote the rest of the song together that day. I believe most things in life are meant to be and I kept getting signs or reminders of this person I used to see. You know how sometimes you think of someone randomly and then they call you later that day? You’re communicating mind to mind without really knowing it. I had the feeling that is what was going on, that maybe I was being thought of so I kept getting these signs. I got a feeling… and now I know. Those reminders were more than a coincidence.”

AU.RA ALBUM STREAM

Made over the course of two years, the LP was birthed from improvised jams the pair play over droning guitars and looped drum beats. Tracks like “Sun,” and “Pyramid” emerge slowly out of interplays between simple melodies and layered, reverbed instrumentation.

EZA “HEADLIGHTS” VIDEO

“Like a lot of creative people, Nashville electropop artist EZA experiences a neurological condition called synesthesia, a blurring of the senses that allows one to, for instance, “see” music as colors, or vice versa. She calls it “headlights,” and it’s the inspiration for a new single of the same name—a breakup song that juxtaposes its bittersweet subject matter against an electronic arrangement that borders on the triumphant.” -Entertainment Weekly

RYAN CULWELL ALBUM STREAM

“Writing in Rolling Stone Country, Andrew Leahey said Flatlands sounds “like the Bible Belt cousin to Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska,” as well as “the score to some long-lost Cormac McCarthy film, its tracklist split between roadhouse-worthy roots rockers, front porch county songs and haunting, blue collar ballads about life and loneliness in the Lone Star State.”

YOUNG PANDAS CONNECT WITH DAIMLER TECH START-UP FOR TOUR

Have you heard of local band Young Pandas? If not, you’re going to know a lot more about them very soon. The band, which has been Providence and Boston based since 2010, has been working behind the scenes on a semi-national level since before they arrived in our small state. Comprised of members of Bad Rabbits and Such Gold working alongside R&B/Soul singer-songwriters Mike Maven and Kyle Nagel, the band began based on the idea that this team of young Indie music veterans working together could create a project that was current, but completely unique.

While on tour this fall in Austin, TX, Young Pandas began a relationship with RideScout, the brand new tech startup from Daimler (Mercedes Benz) that connects smartphone users with all of the tech-connected transportation options around them in their city. When lead singer Mike Maven lamented to RideScout VP of Branding, Rachel Charlesworth, that touring was often too consumed with getting from place to place in total exhaustion, with no energy or time to actually see or experience the cities, Charlesworth had a eureka moment.
