NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS NEW ALBUM OUT MARCH 3RD
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will release their second album entitled Chasing Yesterday on March 3rd via Sour Mash Records. The album will be available on CD, Deluxe CD, vinyl, and digitally and can be pre-ordered on Noel’s website, iTunes, and Amazon.
Chasing Yesterday marks a new chapter and sound for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It’s the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel and features a much broader array of instrumentation than ever before; the result is a rich, expansive and multi-layered record, drawing from a range of disparate influences – from west coast rock to classic rock’n’roll and even some space jazz (!) – whilst still being very obviously a completely cohesive body of work. On producing the album, Noel said:
“It was a major pain in the arse. It’s not that I’ve ever had people telling me what to write or what direction to go in, but managing sessions from one end of the week to the other proved extremely difficult. I had all these people looking at me and saying: ‘right, what are we doing today?’ I was making the whole thing up as I went along.”

COZZ “I’M THA MAN”
JEREMY & THE HARLEQUINS ON WSJ
NYC-based Jeremy & the Harlequins have released a brand new track entitled “You’re My Halo,” from the forthcoming full-length album American Dreamer, due out on February 10th. The record will be the band’s debut full length, following up their self-titled EP – released in December of 2013. After landing a major sync placement in the recent Tom Cruise film Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow with their single “Trip Into the Light” and building an impressive live resume by playing with bands like Foxy Shazam, Guided By Voices, Youngblood Hawke, and Detroit Cobras, Jeremy & the Harlequins couldn’t be happier to release their classically inspired 10-song LP.

WILLIAM RYAN FRITCH NEW VIDEO
Fritch is a composer, but he isn’t comfortable with that term. He has little in common with most contemporary composers. Most ambient, minimalist, and modern classical music leaves him wanting, and he’s clueless when it comes to that electro-acoustic shtick, though he is often grouped into that category. Until a few years ago, he couldn’t read a lick of music. He employs no virtual instruments, plugins, or libraries, just a bunch of raggedy, second-hand instruments he constantly recontextualizes in his studio, the compositional content of every piece flowing from the originating sound itself. The pieces don’t exist separate from the arrangements; they are the arrangements.
STEPS OF DOE DEBUT SINGLE
Their harmonically ornate new single “Beneath the Shadow of the King” encompasses the composition of a love song coupled with the uncertainty that runs rampant in true human emotion. It makes for a dynamic track that highlights the power of authentic storytelling. An affectionate hook swoops and swirls throughout the chorus, as the percussion echoes against the hallowed halls of loneliness, building a weary song that gallops along at a dramatic pace. Keena Batti and Molly Falck voices, born to be heard together, soar through the melody with precision, creating a beautiful arc that allows you to lose yourself in the folds and layers of their harmonies. Their first single “Beneath the Shadow of the King” showcases the real joy of musical collaboration, each aspect of their instrumentation and vocal arrangements providing a glow and shimmer that crafts an unforgettable sound.

PANTHAR DEBUT SINGLE
PANTHAR is a new wave band that melds a range of 80’s art punk and underground influences and brings a dirty LA edge to its blitzed out dark pop confection. The band’s frontwoman, Shelina Louise, who was raised by hippie ex-pat parents in Kyoto, Japan. Growing up on a steady diet of 90s J-pop idols, Shelina learned to sing into a hot pink karaoke microphone. Upon relocating to Canada as a teenager, her world was turned upside down when she discovered punk rock, grunge and most of all riot grrrl, immediately falling in love with the vocal power of Kathleen Hanna. From that point onwards, she began corresponding with Kill Rock Stars, mail-ordering every new 7″ they would put out. Her quest for female-fronted punk brought her to UCLA as a graduate student in Musicology, researching proto-punk and art punk singers of the past, in both Japan and the west.
THE DAMNWELLS NEW ALBUM
Indie rock band The Damnwells will be releasing a new, self-titled album featuring the original four band members on April 14, 2015 (via Rock Ridge Music). Since 2006, Dezen continued to make Damnwells records with a cast of talented musicians to fill in the blanks. But for the forthcoming self-titled album, he and his former comrades decided to “get the band back together” for real and joined producer Salim Nourallah (Old 97s) in the studio to capture the magic. They recorded at the intimate Tree Fort Studios in Austin, TX, where they sought, as Dezen says, to “capture as much live as possible.”

Special guests Stars will join Leisure Cruise on four of the tour dates. With Lights’ energetic vocal, I wanted to jack up the tempo and keep it funky… in the bridge I gave a nod to our track ‘Revelation’ with the chords and rhythm.. although Revelation is much slower and a totally different vibe. It’s a really cool song to begin with, which always makes it that much easier, too.”

HOWARDIAN “BE FRUITFUL”
Lead single “Be Fruitful” — which has been described as “two minutes of lo-fi, high- energy, distortion-soaked garage rock” (SPIN) and a “perfect little rock snack” (Grantland) — opens the record with some elements that Japanther fans will appreciate: scuzzy, lo-fi layers of sound, distorted vocals, and brash lyrics. NEW EP BY THE SHAMS
San Francisco based band The Shams are releasing their highly anticipated EP “One and All” on February 24th, 2015. This multifaceted, Irish-influenced rock band showcases their strong and original song writing skills, and the lads are touring across the West Coast to promote their explosive EP. They began by hosting an intimate CD release party with family, friends, and fans at the iconic Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on January 16th, followed by a second release party at Neck of The Woods on Valentine’s Day with well-known Boston reggae band Spiritual Rez, and a headlining performance at The Great American Music Hall on Friday March 13th.
The EP, produced by John Cesario (who has worked with big acts such as Fleetwood Mac and Eddie Money, and is the creator of Rocket Songs) and engineered by Chris Cortez (Nice N Up Studios), has a raw and unique feel to it – yet while it is influenced by their Irish roots, their eclectic songs put them into a new genre of their own creation and appeals to music lovers of all ages.
