New Jersey natives Dougie F and DJ Fire have dropped their first ever collaboration “Back Up On It (Jasmine)”, out now on Mad Decent. The track is a hip hop and Jersey Club hybrid, blending Dougie F’s melodic rhyming with DJ Fire’s bouncing club production complete with Jersey bed squeak samples. “Back Up On It” has received Hot 97 play and has become a club favorite in New Jersey and NYC scenes, it’s their bridge between hip hop and dance music.
FREE SHOW BY KONGOS
On the eve of the Taos Fall Arts Festival,Taos Solar Music Festival and the Town of Taos have partnered together to bring internationally known musical artists, Kongos, to Taos Plaza on Thursday, Sept. 25 for a free performance beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Kongos are best known for their platinum selling hit, “Come with Me Now” which has gained international notoriety on everything from HBO movie previews, to sports promotions and as the lead song on the Expendables 3 soundtrack. The band is made up of four brothers, whose last name is “Kongos,” who are originally from South Africa but reside in Phoenix, Ariz. Along with a live performance on the NBC “Today Show,” Kongos recently performed a sold out show with the Kings of Leon at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo.

SPAIN NEW SINGLE “YOU AND I”
Dine Alone Records is proud to announce the addition of the band SPAIN to their North American roster. The critically acclaimed Los Angeles based band will release Sargent Place, their highly anticipated fifth studio album, and first in the U.S. in over 10 years, on November 4.

With an intro sampled from Kanye West’s infamous Taylor Swift rant, Well$ returns with his aptly titled new single, “An Awfully Rude Reintroduction.” Released by 10.DEEP and premiered at The FADER, the song is the first release of the Charlotte, NC rapper’s “Week of Well$,” which entails a new audio single or video being dropped every day for the first week of September. Following yesterday’s free concert at Chapel Hill, “An Awfully Rude Reintroduction” showcases the rapper at his most fervent, spitting 32 bars full of lyricism, braggadocio, and introspection.
DRALMS RELEASE DEBUT 7″ SINGLE “CRUSHED PLEATS”
Dralms is the latest project by Christopher Smith, featuring long time collaborators Shaunn Thomas Watt (Siskiyou), Will Kendrick (Failing) and Peter Carruthers (Siskiyou). With Dralms, Smith departs from his minimal and subdued musical constructions of his solo albums to a much more complex, heavier sound. Still led by the cloud-soft vocals of Smith the group veer-off into cyclical dub rhythms on “Divisions Of Labour”, while the spacey “Crushed Pleats” mixes OK Computer-era Radiohead, rising post-rock arrangements and glitched-out electronic tones.

Of the video, which was filmed on a ranch in Southeast Colorado, director Andrew Bruntel of Wes Anderson’s The Director’s Bureau explains “it’s comprised of three simple, understated vignettes dealing with various relationship dynamics…if I could parse it down to one simple theme it would be vulnerability. Vulnerability in friendships, in our relationships with family and with the pets/animals that we allow into our lives.”
TBS & TIME WARNER CANCEL CEE LO GREEN
Today, less than three hours after a campaign was launched to call on Time Warner and TBS to cancel CeeLo Green’s reality show The Good Life, in the wake of his controversial tweets claiming that an unconscious drugged woman cannot be raped if she doesn’t remember, UltraViolet has received word that the show has been cancelled. More than 30,000 UltraViolet members signed onto the short campaign in less than three hours.
“This is a huge victory for women and survivors of rape and sexual assault,” said Shaunna Thomas, co-founder of UltraViolet. “No matter how famous you are, rape is never ok. CeeLo Green publicized views that rape isn’t rape if a woman doesn’t remember–a false and dangerous claim. We urge CeeLo Green, Time Warner, and TBS to take this moment to donate to an organization helping survivors of rape, and are looking into whether any next steps are appropriate.”

This album explores just about everything in my life that has happened since I started Plug In Stereo. I wrote “Better Off Alone” when leaving high school, I wrote “Give It Up” when my girlfriend and I broke up, I wrote “Hey There Little Bird” when I felt like giving up, etc, So the album is really going to let people know more about my personal life. I’ve been working on this collection of songs for a long long time. Some songs were written this year, some of them are 4 years old. I just wanted this album to be full of the best/most meaningful songs I’ve written since I started this project 6 years ago.

SID GRIFFIN (COAL PORTERS, LONG RYDERS) READIES SOLO ALBUM
The Trick Is To Breathe is first solo album by Sid Griffin (the Coal Porters, the Long Ryders) in a decade. Recorded in Nashville, Tenn. at the home studio of Thomm Lutz in February 2014 over four days, the album will be released in the U.S. on September 16, 2014 on Prima Records through Burnside Distribution.
When Sid Griffin started recording 30 years ago the term Americana was unheard of. Now he is considered one of the genre’s founding fathers. With the now legendary Long Ryders he crossed punk’s spirit with country music chops and pioneered cowpunk and alt-country. Currently a Coal Porter playing acoustic music, Griffin now uses bluegrass instrumentation to play original folk/Celtic songs. “It is the familiar heard anew,” he says.

CAM SMITH VIDEO “MAD CRACK”
Cam Smith has announced that his long-awaited album Cannon is set for release on Tuesday, September 30th. Noisey has premiered a music video for new single, “Mad Crack.” Directed by Dave Hung, the clip pays tribute to ’80s horror film, Street Trash.
“With this video we wanted to step back and create something cinematic,” says Smith. “Music videos today have lost the story telling elements that “Thriller” so memorable. We wanted to bring that excitement back to life with our own devilish twist.”
