Phillip Fox Band, the ‘Country-Fried Rock N’ Roll’ band from Columbus OH, will release its debut full length studio album “Heartland” September 2nd. LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI PREVENTS REMOVAL OF FOSTER THE PEOPLE’S SUPERMODEL MURAL
In the final hours before it was to be painted over, Foster the People received word from the office of Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti that their Supermodel mural would not be covered on Monday as scheduled, only six months after its creation. After a Los Angeles Times story spread word of the mural’s impending removal last Friday, a fan named Johanna Maria started a Change.org petition that was signed nearly 12,000 times over the weekend and caught the attention of Garcetti’s office. Garcetti was able to intervene and preserve the mural; the band learned late Sunday night.

The track “All You Got Is Your Word” falls in the first half of the storyline of the concept album. Set in 1994, There Is Only Now reads like a audio-only blaxploitation film with drama, suspense, and plot twists involving strong character roles played by Busta Rhymes, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Snoop Dogg, William Hart of The Delfonics, Scarub from Living Legends, and all four members of Souls of Mischief, who play themselves. The plot of the entire album is based on a violent near-death experience the Souls of Mischief actually encountered in San Francisco in 1994. “All You Got Is Your Word” comes into play during a significant part of the plot which involves a kidnapping of a Souls member and takes place during a flashback to a show they did at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The message of the song is simple: Regardless of your successes, failures, trials and tribulations, all you have is your word. “So make it something you can stand behind,” explains Tajai.

HERETIC DREAM SIGN DEAL WITH AGOGE
Italian rock/metal band HERETIC’S DREAM have inked a deal with Italian label AGOGE RECORDS. The band is working on the third album with producer Gianmarco Bellumori (New Disorder, Sin Of Night, Element of Chaos). The new album will be recorded, mixed and mastered in Bellumori’s Wolf Recording studio. The release expected for the end of 2014.

Brooklyn-based, Wakey!Wakey! have partnered up with the Wall St. Journal to premiere their new album, Salvation. The 11-track album will be released on July 22, 2014 and follows the band’s critically acclaimed Irresistible EP which was released in January. Lead singer, Michael Grubbs collaborated with some big names – Boots Ottestad, Dan Keyes, Fredrik Eriksson, Peter Stengaard, Caleb Shreve – to write all the songs on Salvation. The first single, “Wake Up (Lily, I love you),” was shipped to Triple A, Non-Comm and Specialty Formats on May 19, impacted on June 2 and is seeing adds across the country.
