NEW SINGLE BY WELL$
Following several singles and videos earlier this year, 19-year-old Charlotte, NC-based rapper Well$ released his mixtape, MTYSD: Revenge of the African Booty Scratcher via The FADER. Pitchfork reviewed the album, calling it “a startling peephole into something deeply personal within Well$.” While the project features some upbeat songs such as “Savoire-Faire,” it also delves into issues such as gun violence (as in the haunting “Lil’ Tommy”), and the difficulties of growing up as an African immigrant in the U.S. With the mixtapes first single, “Black Swan,” Well$ addresses adversities faced by many women forced into stripping. Today, we’re sharing its response track, “Major Paine (Daddy’s Little Girl),” produced by Austin Celaya and THE BL∆CK HE∆RTS CLUB, as the mixtapes latest single.

NEW SINGLE BY NOELZ VEDERE
Holding as a genuine testimony to real life issues with a bit of flashy flavor, Chicago rapper Noelz Vedere has released his debut album, Bittersweet Victory, to critical acclaim. VICE music blog Noisey, has stated that “Vedere scans less a contemporary of Chief Keef and more of a hard-spitting, new-school hardhead in the mold of Twista,” and HotNewHipHop has went on the record declaring “…Vedere bears his soul and provides the listener with sultry tracks while simultaneously spitting the cold hard truth. Bittersweet Victory is a soulful and cohesive album from a Chicago emcee with a story to tell.” This praise has only been affirmed by the recent release of the booming, Hans Zimmer-esque single “Promise Land,” which leads us to his most recent release “Garden of Eden,” featuring Chicago MC’s Jahzel and A-Cross as well as singer/songwriter Chris Alonozo.

Stereogum premiered the video, which was directed by Harrison Martin, and said, “[it] carries the same vibes as the music, beginning as a claustrophobic basement rave scene that will at random moments accelerate to dizzying fast-motion as quickly as it will just freeze in place. It makes for a video that’s as chaotic as an amusement park ride.”
NEW VIDEO BY MAC WISEMAN
Maybe someone will do another one like this – like Mac Wiseman’s Songs From My Mother’s Hand – one day. To do so, they’ll need to have a mother who writes the words to songs she hears on the radio into composition books that serve as the family songbook. In those books, they’ll need to find passion and inspiration that fuel a monumental, Hall of Fame-caliber life in music. They’ll need to cherish those books throughout their life, then take them into a recording studio at age 89 and sing the songs their mother wrote down, in a voice of weathered, heartening beauty.

DYING SCENE RECORDS SIGNS HARDCORE PUNK ACT SOME NERVE, DEBUT FULL-LENGTH OUT IN AUGUST
DYING SCENE RECORDS has announced the signing of Texas hardcore-punk act SOME NERVE and will be releasing the band’s debut, self-titled full-length on August 12th.
For those unfamiliar with the band Some Nerve play old school hardcore punk with a modern finish. Breaking strings and bellowing their message with both direction and aggression this five piece takes brings a sense of dynamic musicality to their fury. The sound of Some Nerve’s debut release brings to mind the glory days of early era Epitaph Records band RKL and has even been described as an “faster, evil version” of A Wilhelm Scream/Propagandhi. But don’t be misunderstood, the relentless pissed off spirit of Some Nerve’s music is definitely all their own. This is music for punks with pervasive sore throats and bloodshot eyes, taking aim at the establishment with athletic aggression and an unquieted voice.
“Held Hostage”, the first song from the album, can be streamed right here:

NEW RELEASE BY KIM WATERS
With persistence, patience and passion, romance grows stronger, richer and sweeter each year and for 25 years, urban-jazz saxophonist Kim Waters has written, produced and performed chart-topping candlelight compositions that explore the excitement, exoticism and mystique of love. He will clank glasses on September 2 to celebrate the silver anniversary with the release of his aptly titled 20th solo album, “Silver Soul,” to be issued by Red River Entertainment.
“Silver Soul” is most definitely an urban adult contemporary album with a wealth of R&B vocals and sultry grooves although almost half of the dozen cuts produced by Waters are instrumental numbers certain to woo his contemporary jazz fan base like the highly rhythmic first single with the grandiose hook, “Dreaming Of You,” is already doing. The tune showcasing his daughter Kayla Waters on piano was the second most added track on playlists this week according to BDS Radio.

The Letterman performance was inspired by Kiesza’s one-take video for “Hideaway.” She shows off her 90s throwback dance moves and her undying love for the timelessness of house music.
