Peter Kelly, Fear Of Landing

Starting off sounding like Peter Kelly has something of a kinship with Jack Johnson, as ‘Fear Of Landing’ progresses it becomes clear that there is more going on here than might at first seem apparent. The verse is pretty laid back, with an engaging melody and some touching falsetto, but once the chorus kicks in, it turns the tone to a rocking anthem in the style of Sting and Phil Collins.

There’s a great balance between the acoustic guitars that underpin the track, and the overall sound of the full band that makes up the previously noted chorus. Peter Kelly’s voice is steady, confident, and in a style that is all his own as he bends notes and croons powerfully throughout ‘Fear Of Landing’.

  1. Peter Kelly is in a pantheon of singer-songwriters that I thought were obliterated by the Biebers of the world. I’m happy that I was wrong! Pete plays as if the music were born to him. Watch him—he will be big!!
