DADDY LONG LEGS ‘BLOOD FROM A STONE’ ALBUM OUT JUNE 10TH

Daddy Long Legs, New York City’s most blueswailing trio, have been spreading their gospel throughout the globe since the release of their debut album ‘EVIL EYE ON YOU’ (2012/Norton Records). Now the boys return with their second full length offering, ‘BLOOD FROM A STONE’ – 13 stunning new studio tracks produced by Matt Verta-Ray (Heavy Trash), which sees the band maintain the wild, raw energy of their first record, but reveal a growth in both songwriting and production. The end result is the original, unbeatable, revival-tent mayhem that alternately sweats, bleeds, shouts and stomps real-deal roots and blues. Hear the thump and bash of drummer/percussionist Josh Styles, searing slide and rhythm from multi-talented guitarist Murat Akturk, and the signature howling harmonica of Daddy Long Legs himself.

WIRE: NEW VIDEO BY ARUM RAE

Directed by Philippe Leonard, the gritty black & white video for “Gold” follows wolves on the hunt through a mountainous forest, and is soundtracked by Arum Rae’s haunting vocals and sparse electric guitar, a return to her singer-songwriter roots. Her Warranted Queen EP showcased minimal electronic elements, and with “Gold” it truly proves that Arum Rae’s dynamic voice is capable of just about anything.

POWERS REVEAL VIDEO FOR LATEST SINGLE “TOUCH THE WORLD”

Intimate can be loud. Rambunctious can be endearing. Heartfelt can be lighthearted. POWERS introduced themselves to the world on that premise. And it listened. Their romping bursting, single, “Gimme Some” shot up to the top of the Hype Machine popular page instantaneously after its fall release, and was featured globally on ad campaigns for J. Crew & Mastercard. Indie Shuffle called it “Infectious and damn right catchy”, and Stereofox encouraged us to look up indie-pop in the dictionary (they said we’d find the song there - we did). Their most recent release, “Touch The World” premiered on IDOLATOR,  with massive praise for “a chorus that you’ll be hardpressed to get out of your head after just one listen”.

WIRE: NORTHERN ARMS SHARE NEW VIDEO

Philadelphia-based rock ensemble Northern Arms are pleased to share their latest video. For “Below the Pines” the band creates a beautifully cinematic short film set to the dark and haunting track. “Eric is an exiled “artisan in lost objects”, beckoned to the woods for a shocking revelation. Elsewhere Northern Arms provides the soundtrack to a celebration turned decadent, acting as the purgatorial band in residence,” explains director David Kain. “Conceptually we started with the goal of conveying the tone of the music visually; building an abstract story that juxtaposed two ideas that climax in opposing ways at a key point in the music.”

NEW SINGLE BY BLACK CITY LIGHTS

The second single from Cascine’s new singles imprint, CSCN, comes from Black City Lights of New Zealand. Track “Not Enough (For Us)” evokes a sense of gentle asphyxiation with the high-and-low vocals of Julia Catherine Parr and the stuttering production from Calum Robb – a spacious, nitrous rich soundtrack for the warmer months ahead of us.

‘COWBOYS AND INDIES: THE EPIC HISTORY OF THE RECORD INDUSTRY’

There is a new book called COWBOYS AND INDIES: The Epic History of the Record Industry (Thomas Dunne Books; June 17) by Gareth Murphy. Written with the full commitment of many in the music industry, Murphy draws over one hundred exclusive interviews with industry legends, memoirs and archives to create the definitive record business bible.

From rock ‘n’ roll, vaudeville, blues and jazz to R&B, hip hop, electronica and pop, and everything else in between, COWBOYS AND INDIES brings together the record industry’s fascinating and engrossing 130 year history, demonstrating in the last chapter that to truly understand the industry’s future we must be knowledgeable of its past. Chronicling the pioneers who set the stylus on the most important labels and musical discoveries from the 19th century to today, this witty and evocative narrative follows all the musical trends and developments, from the phonograph to the internet age, as it delves behind the big business of corporate hit machines and the diligent industry of small, curated labels.

JOYNER LUCAS POSTS “RIDING SOLO”

This song is about being on your own and by yourself because you don’t trust nobody. I’m talking about going through trials and tribulations of regular life situations we all have encountered at one point. This song is for all the people who struggle day to day while living check to check to survive.. this is for all the hustlers and everybody else who grind out and work hard to ultimately try and succeed. As my first single I feel this is a great 1st impression and representation of myself and what it was like growing up. It gives people insight on who I am and where I came from. I felt Busy Signal could really bring this record to life. I have always been a fan of Busy and I’m excited to have him on this record. He is a perfect fit.

DESERT DEBUTS FIRST SINGLE “SAPS PROU BE”

Desert’s first EP, Envalira, will be released on digital on June 17 and 12” vinyl in July and is issued via collaboration between Minty Fresh and Spanish label Buenritmo.

Envalira is the perfect description of Desert’s sound, being a made up word. Envalira is a combination the Catalan verbs “embadalir” (to spellbind) and “delirar” (to be delirious). This new word is perhaps better at categorizing Desert than any other genre as it is becoming increasingly harder to define their music with a single word.

JEFF TWEEDY NEW ALBUM + “I’LL SING IT”

Jeff Tweedy, best known as the founder of the pioneering Chicago rock band Wilco, will release a new album Sept. 16 through his own dBpm Records. The album, Sukierae (sue-key-ray), is not quite a solo effort. It is the debut release by the aptly-monikered duo, Tweedy, which features 20 new Jeff Tweedy-written songs, performed by Jeff in a musical collaboration with his 18-year-old son and drummer Spencer Tweedy.

https://soundcloud.com/dbpmrecords/ill-sing-it

“When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing,” Jeff said. “Solo to me meant that I would do everything – write the songs, play all the instruments and sing. But Spencer’s been with me from the very beginning demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape. In that sense, the record is kind of like a solo album performed by a duo.”

NEW VIDEO BY THE MOOG “UNBOUND”

BEATS PRESENTS “THE GAME BEFORE THE GAME” AD

There is a game that starts before the kick-off, before the tip-off, before the face off; a mental game. It awaits every top athlete in the locker room. It is a game of conquering doubt and embracing the pressure. It is during this game that they find their true strength, the power to win. They find it in prayer, in ritual, and in music. It’s a game that few people have ever seen…until now.

The Game Before The Game spotlights the pre-game rituals of football (soccer) players, celebrities and fans as they prepare to be victorious in the game to come; Neymar,Jr. calls his father for words of strength, wisdom and confidence, Cesc Fabrigas kisses the ring his girlfriend gave him four times exactly, Luis Suarez kisses the tattoo of his son and daughter’s names on his wrist for love and good luck, Chicharito begins every game by praying on his knees, a ritual his father instilled in him as a young boy. The campaign also celebrates pre-game rituals from fans around the world.
