WIRE: NEW ALBUM & SINGLE FROM GLEN DAVID ANDREW
Louisiana Red Hot Records will release Redemption April 29th. It features Andrews’s core band and a few chosen friends who’ve played a part in his spiritual recovery. Ivan Neville lays down gritty grooves on a humming Hammond organ and a badass clavinet, the history of modern funk percolating in his fingertips. Jamison Ross, winner of the prestigious 2012 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz competition, brings his own brand of bonhomie, singing, arranging and playing various instruments. Guitar god Anders Osborne contributes two searing solos. The album also features a surprise — a sample of the radiant voice of the Queen Mother of Gospel, Mahalia Jackson — on a rousing version of her joyous hymn, “Didn’t It Rain.”
Andrews just returned to New Orleans from an East Coast tour – he arrived to find Dee Dee Bridgewater ensconced in Esplanade Studios cutting his song “Knock Wit Me” for her new big band CD, produced by Irvin Mayfield and featuring Dr. John on the track with Andrews.

CLEVELAND’S A. GULLY NEW VIDEO + MIXTAPE
“Came Up” tells Gully’s story perfectly; growing up as the only white kid in a predominantly black neighborhood, having a doper for a father, often being the only one who believed in his musical ability and striving for it anyway and now, celebrating each day of reaping the rewards of that belief in himself. Don’t think for one moment though that “Came Up” is five minutes of ‘woe is me.’ On the contrary, Gully, like most kids growing up in difficult circumstances, was blessed with some tight-knit friendships along the way and the ability to emerge triumphant at the end of it all has enabled him to genuinely revel in each chapter of his journey.

LIL BIBBY PRESENTS THE VIDEO FOR HIT SINGLE “WATER”
In the current rap landscape, few make it their mission to be a raconteur of sorts for their surroundings. While localized music scenes cater to the same area code, Lil Bibby aims to make his message universal. “I want to paint the real picture of Chicago,” he expresses. “A lot of people go off what they see on TV or hear in rap, and I don’t think some rappers really tell that story fluently. I want to be the one to tell it like it is.” He pauses. “I guess I’ve got a lot of work to do.”
AVICII UPDATE ON HEALTH ISSUES
“I’m really sorry but as some of you have already heard, I will not be playing Ultra Festival this weekend.
My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis…I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night.
Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight.
My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning.
It’s a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.
Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!”
