Hello to everyone all over the world. Today is a very sad & somber day here at Skope. We have lost Chris West who had been with Skope since we started back in 2001. Chris was a writer for Skope both print & online. Chris was a major fan of all the bands and musicians that we covered. His first interview for Skope was with Proof of D-12. Join us today as Michael Friedman (Skope’s Publisher) reflects on Chris West!
Dear Chris,
When I got the call yesterday from Missy, my jaw hit the ground. I have been truly numb and somber since. To be honest it was a challenge to even get up and face the day. Words cannot describe what you meant to me and Skope. Your enthusiasm and passion for the music we cover was an inspiration. Even when we stopped printing the magazine and went digital you never let up your confidence in what we were doing. I have seen many people come & go but you were always a constant and I appreciated that so much especially when things were tough.
As a writer you had such a special way with words. Even if you did not like the music, you always were so articulate as to not offend. I always knew I could count on you to take on any assignment. These days that is tough to find.
I really do not know how to go on without you and when I think about it I tear up. There is nothing magical that I can write or say here that will make this any easier. I am going to miss you so much and Skope will too. I want to thank you for all that you did and I will never forget you. Every time someone discovers a new band or song on Skope I will think of you. You never get to tell those close to you what you feel for them until they are gone.
Until we meet again Chris…
