In honor of what would have been Jerry Garcia’s 70th birthday, the Grateful Dead took over The Warner Sound app on Spotify on August 1. The Grateful Dead takeover will run through the end of “The Days Between,” which is the annual celebration of Garcia’s life that runs from his birthday (August 1) to the anniversary of the day he passed (August 9). The app takeover is highlighted by a Spotify-exclusive sampler from the band’s upcoming Spring 1990 boxed set, which is available now for pre-order exclusively at dead.net. The six-track, 45-minute set collects a previously unreleased live track from each complete live show included in the boxed set and features Dead classics such as “Truckin’,” and “Box Of Rain,” as well as one of their most famous covers, “Iko Iko.”
