Carly Rae Jepsen, the Canadian singer and songwriter who has pop fans buzzing about her current single “Call Me Maybe,” has signed to Schoolboy Records, created by Scooter Braun and run by Braun and multi platinum Schoolboy/RMBG/IDJ artist Justin Bieber.
The irresistibly catchy “Call Me Maybe,” which Jepsen co-wrote, began to climb the iTunes Singles chart after Bieber tweeted the song to his 17.5 million followers. It received an additional boost after Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and other young stars filmed themselves lip-synching and dancing to the song and posted the video on Big Time Rush actor and singer Carlos Pena’s YouTube Channel, where it racked up a million views in 24 hours and became a trending topic on Twitter. It has now earned more than eight million views, while the official video has attracted 4.5 million views. “Call Me Maybe” has been certified double-platinum in Jepsen’s native Canada where it hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 and became the first song by a Canadian artist to top the digital chart since Bieber’s “Baby”.
