Following on the heels of his triumphant performance at this summer’s Lollapalooza festival, UK rap superstar Tinie Tempah has announced that he will hit the road with Lupe Fiasco in September for a fall U.S. tour. All dates are listed below.
The London-born rapper and two-time BRIT Award-winner wowed fans and critics attending Lollapalooza with his electrifying performance. Rollingstone.com wrote that “the rapper waged a rap-rock assault” while AOL’s Spinner noted that “Tinie led the British Invasion at Lollapalooza” and that he was “large and in charge.” The Onion’s AVClub summed it up, saying: “Backed by a full band and a hype man, Tempah gave a rock-star performance, conducting the audience through chant-alongs, fist-pumping, and explosive jumping with delight and good humor.”
Tinie has been nominated for the UK’s prestigious Mercury Prize for his debut album Disc-Overy, which debuted at No. 1 and produced four Top Five singles, including two No. 1’s. It was the U.K.’s top-selling debut album by a British artist in 2010. The album’s debut single, “Written In The Stars,” went platinum in the U.S. before Disc-Overy’s Stateside release, making it clear that Tinie is on his way to becoming the first British rapper to achieve major stardom in America.
