XIMENA SARINANA SELECTED ON VH1

Ximena Sariñana (he-MEN-a sa-rin-YAH-na) has been selected as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist for the month of August. Launched in 2004, VH1’s “You Oughta Know” program introduces promising new artists on the rise to VH1’s base of music lovers. This highly acclaimed franchise has helped break many artists such as Adele, Mumford & Sons, Amy Winehouse, Feist, Regina Spektor and more. Current “You Oughta Know” artists include Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Two Door Cinema Club, Christina Perri, The Civil Wars and Fitz and The Tantrums.

The 25 year-old Mexican singer, songwriter and keyboardist is releasing her English-language debut on August 2nd. Recorded in Los Angeles with Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Bird and the Bee), Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Natalia Lafourcade, the self-titled album is a collection of songs that showcase her striking voice, smart, thoughtful lyrics and offbeat personality.     SPIN has given it an 8 out of 10 rave review, and Marie Claire called first single “Different,” “an effervescent theme song for sane women in a crazy world.” The video for “Different” will premiere on AOL Music July 26th.
