YALE U PRESS RELEASES NEW DYLAN BOOK

Timed to coincide with Bob Dylan’s 70th birthday (May 24th, 2011), Yale University Press is pleased to publish a book that offers new and thought-provoking insight into Dylan’s life and music.   In the words of Sean Wilentz, Princeton University professor and himself the author of some of the most keenly intelligent writing about Bob Dylan, “[this] book will have you saying ‘aha!’ again and again.”

Bob Dylan: Like a Complete Unknown by David Yaffe (Publication date: May 24th, 2011; $24.00 hardcover) offers historical and contemporary perspectives on the iconic American musician, exploring many mysteries that surround the enigmatic singer and revealing new aspects of the “complete unknown.”   David Yaffe, an assistant professor of English at Syracuse University, brings to the wide field of Dylan studies a breath of fresh air, thanks to his penetrating observation of pop culture, feet planted firmly in both the worlds of literary studies and music criticism, and a genuine appreciation of Dylan and his music that took root a generation after Dylan’s own.
