With its sophomore release, Firewater, Outlaw Country and Southern Rock outfit Whiskey Myers has debuted at No. 3 on this week’s iTunes Country Albums chart, a significant feat for an act without national Country radio airplay.
The Texas-based group jumped this week to No. 21 on Billboard’s Texas Regional Radio Report with its current single, “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd,” and at one point was the No. 2 selling Country album on iTunes yesterday. It currently stands as iTunes’ No. 3 selling Country release.
Respected Nashville music critic Robert K. Oermann called the Leroy Powell-produced track “a Southern rawk thang with plenty of punch in the percussion. Most promising.” The group plans to release its follow-up single to national Country radio in the coming weeks. For more information, tour dates and to hear “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd,”
