The Greatest of These
www.sonicbids.com/TheGreatestofThese

Skope: How did you react after you were selected for A2W?
The Greatest of These: Surprised and flattered!   We hope people take Skope’s advice and actually do “watch” us this year.   We have a lot coming up.

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most via an album, tour, single etc?
The Greatest of These: We just released our second studio album in March, Zeroth Law, and will be touring this summer, so both of those are very important to us.

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
The Greatest of These: We have all been playing for 20 years or more, but only recently have decided to make a career out of plyaing music.   We are starting by going on tour this summer!

Skope: Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
The Greatest of These: Internet radio is a great source at which to find new music that we would not otherwise have been exposed to.   Especially in Kentucky, if we didn’t have some source outside of FM radio, our exposure to good rock and roll/alternative music would be pretty awful!   We’ve also been checking out skopemag.com Artists to Watch since we heard about it.   There are some really great bands that we may never have heard, had it not been for the internet.   It’s a great time to be a music fan out there.

Skope: What is your ideal mood & setting to write & play music?
The Greatest of These: As far as writing goes, I am almost invariably outside, so that would be my preferred setting.   If I’m not sitting outside, I’m driving.   A man can certainly do a lot of thinking when he’s on the road by himself.   We play anywhere and everywhere, but our ideal setting is one in which the spectators are there for music.   We like rowdy crowds as well.   Nothing is more rewarding than seeing our music move people!

Skope: What is coming up for you & where you at online?
The Greatest of These: Lots of regional touring this spring, and an eastern US tour this summer, starting mid-July!   We are very excited to be hitting the road.

Natalie Brown
www.sonicbids.com/NatalieBrown2

Skope: How did you react after you were selected for A2W?
Natalie Brown: Thrilled!

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most via an album, tour, single etc?
Natalie Brown: I released my first solo instrumental album in November 2010, Violin Crossings. I’m promoting this album online and at shows. The album is a mix of rock, Celtic, jazz, tango, new age- a tour of the violin!

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
Natalie Brown: I started violin when I was 5, I knew I wanted to be involved with music as long as I can remember.

Skope: Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
Natalie Brown: iTunes, public radio, social networking

Skope: What is your ideal mood & setting to write & play music?
Natalie Brown: A rainy day in my home studio with a cup of coffee!

Skope: What is coming up for you & where you at online?
Natalie Brown: http://www.nataliebrownviolin.com – Currently recording with my band, The Mayflies, also putting together new material for an album with guitarist Craig Erickson.

Paul’s Grandfather
www.sonicbids.com/PaulsGrandfather

Skope: How did you react after you were selected for A2W?
Paul’s Grandfather: Ya know Skope, it feels good to get picked.

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most via an album, tour, single etc?
Paul’s Grandfather: Sorry Lovers and The Living Lake is our elaborate title for our album. Probably would’ve saved time if we gave it a one syllabol name but it just wouldn’t have been the same. We recorded the album in a studio but did almost the entire thing live and on reel-to-reel tape, so its pretty close to us in our most natural forms.

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
Paul’s Grandfather: We all started playing in separate bands in our teens and convened in our early twenties.

Skope: Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
Paul’s Grandfather: The Pink Couch Series and Day Trotter are good, reliable guys (websites) to find out about not-so mainstream music.

Skope: What is your ideal mood & setting to write & play music?
Paul’s Grandfather: Playing music for us never really became affiliated with one ideal mood. We play to all kinds of emotions and rarely have we played a show thinking ‘this is the perfect mood and or setting.’ A lot of the time, feeling like we’re out of our comfort zone makes for a better show.

Skope: What is coming up for you & where are you online?
Paul’s Grandfather: We just want to spread our music in a meaningful way.

Silvina
www.sonicbids.com/Silvina2

Skope: how did you react after you were selected for A2W?
Silvina: I was definitly very excited!! Knowing your reputation as an online music magazine, and what you represent in the industry, I was not only excited, but actually proud of this accomplishment, this big step towards where I
want to go as an artist. I was also honored to be selected, especially because I am a Latin/Spanish singer songwriter. It makes me happy to have been accepted and represent and voice my community, which is huge and matters more than
a lot of people think! It’s been a real boost for me. I’m grateful!

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most?
Silvina: I am currently promoting my #1 Hit song “No se porque”. It has been written by me and expertly produced by LA producer David Snow. This song is about the street children of the Latin American countries. The neglected, abused, exploited and
forgotten children who daily survive the streets of third world countries, in an effort to raise awareness and move hearts into action. This song carries a powerful message of reality, and hope for these innocent children.
It has been doing so well since it was released! It has been nominated by the Out Music Awards in New York City for Sonicbids Best Humanitarian Song of the year award, it has also been nominated by the EWorld awards for best Latin song of the year.
It topped Broadjam top 10 charts in the Latin/Spanish category, was named Top 4 Best Song of the month of November 2010 by well known Songwriter’s Universe magazine.
That song is my baby, and it has a bigger purpose, that is also why it is making strides!I am working on the completion of my EP. I have a total of 9 written songs. I am finishing the production of my fifth one. I intend to produce a music video of the song “No se porque”

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
Silvina: I think I was born with the feeling of being an artist, a musician. I remember as a 9 year old growing up in Buenos Aires Argentina, spending those long summers, playing outside, climbing up to the roof of my house and thinking the world was my stage!
That feeling is still intact. When I turned 18 and had to decide what career I would choose for the rest of my life, is when I knew, that being an artist was all I had always wanted. I still went to college, but that feeling always remained in me and kept tapping on my shoulder
reminding me of who I was meant to be, at those moments when you look for answers somewhere else.

Skope; Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
Silvina: Luckily for us nowadays, we are living in a time of musical openness! I mean, the internet is a tool that everybody can use toward their advantage! Before the internet, people were easier targets
of the main stream manipulation of choices. Nowadays, we have the information and the world at our fingertips, which makes it easier for Indie artists like me, to promote ourselves, and be the sole owners of our careers.
I get to know new artists thru sites like yours, online magazines in general and radio stations like Jango.com. Great ways to find new artist from all over the world, new music.

Skope: what is your ideal mood and setting to write and play music?
Silvina: It is definitly a very strange process. It comes at different times, it is not very predictable, I don’t just sit and decide to write. Melodies just appear in my head sometimes while I am driving, and sometimes even while I sleep!
that is how the lyrics of”No se porque” was written. I had been watching a documentary on the street children of Brazil that night, and I went to sleep sad and frustrated. While in a state of half sleep and half alertness, words just started pouring out like rain fall.
Knowing this process would stop if I woke up, I grabbed my recorder, which was next to me and spoke the words onto it. In the morning, No se porque was all there laid out for me!! All I did was just arrange the words, but it was basically all there for me, metaphores, rhymes and colors!!
It was an amazing process, which happened only once!

Skope: What is coming up for you? and Where are you at online?
Silvina: I am very excited because the OUT music awards are coming up May 23rd 2011, and I plan to be there on the red carpet!! This awards will help me get No se porque   video produced!!
That is the next step, creating a music video for No se porque, which is calling for one!!
I am in production of my EP right now and there are lots of exciting and interesting things coming up!

Junior Giant
www.sonicbids.com/JuniorGiant

Skope: How did you react after you were selected for A2W?
Junior Giant: I was very excited. We had been previously been selected for an honorable mention on Skope Magazine and it’s cool to see us make it to the A2W. It’s good to know we are progressing and getting exposure on a site of the caliber of Skope.

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most via an album, tour, single etc?
Junior Giant: At the moment we are promoting an album we released independently in January of this year with the main focus being our single “Heyla”. We finished our first music video for the single and got a premier on ArtistDirect.com. Right now we are trying to get our fans to check us out there and keep hitting our website, www.juniorgiant.com.

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
Junior Giant: I’ve been involved in music my whole life. When I was about 16 I started playing and recording with my father and shortly thereafter started writing my own songs. As the band started to come together I realized that making music and performing would be a dream come true if we could turn it into a career.

Skope: Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
Junior Giant: Lately I’ve been discovering tons of new music on different online websites. I listen a lot to websites like Pandora and 8tracks on my phone and try and keep up with new artist on sites like SkopeMag.com and ArtistDirect.com.

Skope: What is your ideal mood & setting to write & play music?
Junior Giant: The ideal setting and mood can be anytime and anywhere. I’ve come up with lyrics going on solo hikes in the Wasatch, written chord progressions with an acoustic guitar in my backyard, and rocked new riffs with the whole band in the basement. For me it’s more of a state of mind to be in, always thinking creatively.

Skope: What is coming up for you & where you at online?
Junior Giant: We are currently planning a trip to LA to do recording and showcases. After that we are hoping to follow up with a late summer/ fall tour. We are online at www.juniorgiant.com, as well as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and be sure to check out our video “Heyla” on ArtistDirect.com!

The Effect
www.sonicbids.com/JPrhyme

Skope: How did you react after you were selected for A2W?
The Effect: It makes me happy to get support, especially with our album coming out in June or July. Anything to spread the word of good music excites me

Skope: What are you currently promoting the most via an album, tour, single etc?
The Effect: Definitely the album. It’s going to be under the group ‘The Effect’… We are doing shows all around LA and have our single up on youtube.

Skope: At what age did you start to play music and want to make it a career?
The Effect: Around 16, I had already been rapping for a few years but just realized the potential and how satisfied I would be in life if I reached a dream that big. It’s definitely what gets me up in the morning. Its how I see myself reaching a new level and making it better for everyone in my life.

Skope: Where do you turn these days to hear new music?
The Effect: Mostly the internet, there’s so many streaming sites and new music dropping the computer is the only way to keep up with it all. Occasionally I will hear new stuff on the radio but the radio definitely is not as dominant as it used to be.

Skope: What is your ideal mood & setting to write & play music?
The Effect: Just open to ideas. Sometimes things just come to you quicker and you feel connected to the writing and a song comes out in no time. My favorite studio setting involves my group, some beer and some bud. Everyone let’s out their creative side when they loosed up a bit.

Skope: What is coming up for you & where you at online?
The Effect:   Album photo shoot is next, then we have to master our album and get it promoted and released. We will be doing shows in the meantime so if your in LA watch out for The Effect! Stay updated on our facebook page.
