BRITNEY’S ALBUM PUSHED BACK
Britney Spears’ highly anticipated new album Femme Fatale was set to be released on March 15th, but according to the Washington Post, it’s been pushed back. The effort will now be out two weeks later, on March 29th.
BRITNEY TO SING LIVE ON TOUR?
Britney Spears may have a surprise for her fans when she heads out on tour to support her new album Femme Fatale. According to PerezHilton.com, a source says that the pop star will actually be “singing live,” and that she “wants to win back the support she lost on the last tour.” Nothing about a tour has been officially announced yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
LL COOL J LOVES B.O.B
LL Cool J hosted the GRAMMY nominations announcement back in December. After the show, he told us B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You,” featuring Bruno Mars is his favorite song of the year (Related Cut #4). B.o.B. is up for five GRAMMY Awards including Best Rap Album and Record of the Year for “Nothin’ on You.” See if he wins when the 53rd annual GRAMMY Awards airs live Sunday at 8 PM Eastern on CBS.
GAGA’S SINGLE OUT TODAY, TALKS ALBUM
Lady Gaga has high hopes for her album Born This Way. In the March issue of Vogue, which features the pop star on the cover, Gaga says that she wants the effort to be the best of the decade, and that her fans deserve “nothing less” than just that. She also says that she wrote the album’s title track, which happens to be the first single and is out today, in ten minutes. Born This Way the album is due out in May.
GAGA TEAMS UP WITH TARGET
Lady Gaga has partnered with Target to put out a special deal for her fans. According to a press release, you can pre-order the pop star’s new album Born This Way beginning today at 9 AM Eastern. When you do, you’ll receive a free download of her first single off the effort, the title track, “Born This Way.” The offer is good until February 26th, so head to Target.com/Gaga to order it now.
WIZ KHALIFA NUMBER ONE ON HOT 100 CHART
Wiz Khalifa’s hit song, “Black & Yellow” has finally claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The rapper’s smash spent 18 weeks on the chart and marks his first song to ever take the number one position. Taylor Gang fans can expect his debut album, Rolling Papers, to hit stores on March 29th.
WIZ KHALIFA REACTS TO “YELLOW & GREEN” REMIX
Now that Lil Wayne has remixed Wiz Khalifa’s “Black & Yellow” hit, MTV News caught up with the rap rookie to find out what he thinks of Weezy’s freestyle. Even though Wayne renamed the song “Green & Yellow — to tribute the NFL’s Green Bay Packers — Khalifa thought, “It was real cool when [Lil Wayne] did his version.” The rapper was flatter that the Young Money vet “even heard the song and then knew how to rap to it…hearing Wayne flip how I rap… it was cool.” Wiz recently shot the video to his next single, “Roll Up,” which will include a cameo from Cassie.
COLBIE FILMS VIDEO FOR NEW SONG
Colbie Caillat filmed the video for her new song “I Do” yesterday. The singer-songwriter wrote on Twitter that there were over 50 “hard working people” at the shoot. Learn more at Twitter.com/ColbieCaillat. No word on when we’ll get to see the finished product.
SOME “BORN THIS WAY” TRACK NAMES
Lady Gaga has revealed some more songs titled off of her highly anticipated album Born This Way. Along with the title track, which is the first single, the pop star tells Vogue magazine that the effort will include songs like “Judas,” “Hair,” “Bad Kids” and “Government Hooker.” The March issue of Vogue is out on February 22nd.
SARA BAREILLES TALKS JERSEY SHORE
A funny video featuring Sara Bareilles has been posted online. It shows the singer-songwriter trying to figure out who said a few different quotes, including “The beach for me is relaxing” and “I’ve now been in 57 states. One left to go.” The thing is — the quotes were either said by President Obama, or by a cast member of the Jersey Shore. AFI SINGER TAKES ON ROLE IN AMERICAN IDIOT PLAY
AFI frontman Davey Havok is taking on the role of “St. Jimmy” in Green Day’s American Idiot play on Broadway. No one really knows the status of Gorillaz right now, but founder Damon Albarn says the animated group has not broken up. According to Pitchfork, Albarn says, “Despite rumors to the contrary, Gorillaz are alive and well and misbehaving in London W10.”
LINKIN PARK SINGER FALLS ILL, CANCELS D.C. SHOW
Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington fell ill this week. Under doctor’s orders, the singer was forced to cancel their show in Washington. D.C. on Thursday night. The band is out on a North American trek in support of their album A Thousand Suns.
NO MORE GUITAR HERO
Activision is disbanding the unit that makes its Guitar Hero games due to low sales. According to Reuters, the video games, which first came out in 2005, have dropped in popularity so the company will no longer create them.
DR DRE TO JOIN EMINEM AT GRAMMY’S
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dr Dre has just been added to the list of growing performers for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards this Sunday. The hit producer, who is currently working on his oft-delayed Detox LP, will join the ten-time GRAMMY-nominated Eminem to likely perform their new collaboration, “I Need a Doctor.” This will be the Doc’s first televised performance in over ten years — giving people even more reason to tune in on Sunday at 8 PM ET on CBS!
LIL WAYNE’S “6 FOOT, 7 FOOT” DELAYED
Looks like Lil Wayne fans will have to wait a few more days for the video premiere of his new single, “6 Foot 7 Foot” featuring Cory Gunz. The mogul was expected to debut the Hype Williams-directed clip last night at 8 PM during the MTV First: Lil Wayne special. A rep has confirmed that the clip will be released soon; however an exact date is unknown at this time. In related news, Weezy is currently working on his highly-anticipated Tha Carter IV, due this spring.
JAY-Z, KANYE SHUT DOWN NYC HOTEL TO RECORD
Not too many rappers can pull this off, but when you’re Jay-Z and Kanye West…shutting down an entire floor inside a popular NYC hotel is easier than snapping your fingers. During their stay at the Mercer Hotel, a source told the New York Post that the rap stars “took over at least one whole floor and moved in their equipment, which may have annoyed some of the guests.” The artists were apparently recording new material for their highly anticipated joint album, Watch The Throne.
