Shade is a pop-rock quartet that plays warm, honest and catchy songs. Their sound has been likened to that of The Velvet Underground, Belle and Sebastian, and Cat Power.
Their debut album Highway (April, 2010) is both polished and raw, with evocative lyrics, warm textures and simple arrangements. The album is produced by friend and part-time band member Tim Vesely (Rheostatics, Violet Archers). Tim saw the group’s first performance, and agreed to help them record a demo. The demo evolved to become the full-length album, which has received positive reviews across the board.
