NEW YEAR’S ROCKIN’ EVE LINE-UP!
Willow Smith, Jason Derulo, Drake, La Roux, Mike Posner, Natasha Bedingfield, Far East Movement and more will perform on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011. Jennifer Hudson, Ne-Yo, Avril Lavigne and Train will also perform on the show. Ryan Seacrest will host from New York, while Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie will co-host from Los Angeles. The over three hour long show will air on ABC on New Year’s Eve.
AVRIL LAVIGNE TO RELEASE ALBUM IN MARCH
Avril Lavigne’s fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, will finally be released on March 8th. Lavigne worked with longtime collaborators Deryck Whibley, Evan Taubenfeld and Butch Walker, as well as songwriter/producer Max Martin on the effort. The album features songs like “Stop Standing There,” “Smile,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Push” and “Goodbye.” Lavigne will debut the first single, “What the Hell,” on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest. She has sold more than 30-million albums worldwide and has earned eight GRAMMY nominations and seven Canadian Juno Awards.
MTV NEWS COUNTS DOWN TOP 25 SONGS OF THE YEAR
MTV News is counting down their top 25 songs of 2010. The poll, which was voted on by MTV staffers, features Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Eminem, Arcade Fire, Robyn and more. The site is currently unveiling the top ten with Jay-Z featured at number eight with “On to the Next One.” The musician who tops the poll will be revealed in the coming days on MTVNews.com.
KATY AND KANYE TOP ITUNES CHART
Katy Perry’s “Firework” holds on to the number one spot on this week’s iTunes chart for a second straight week. While the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Time (Dirty Bit),” Bruno Mars’ “Grenade,” P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass” and Rihanna’s “What’s My Name” featuring Drake follow. Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the top downloaded album on iTunes for a second straight week, followed by the Black Eyed Peas’ The Beginning, Glee: The Music — The Christmas Album, Glee: The Music Vol. 4 and the Burlesque soundtrack round out the top five.
JUSTIN BIEBER TRADING CARDS
Justin Bieber trading cards have arrived. According to a press release, entertainment collectible company Panini America – the maker of cards commemorating the NFL, NBA, NHL and Hollywood movie and TV stars – has created a line of official Justin Bieber trading cards. The collection is made up of 150 unique cards and 30 stickers, including 500 randomly inserted ones with authentic Bieber autographed cards. A set sells for $1.99 and includes five cards and one sticker. They are available at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Toys “R” Us and Wal-Mart, as well as Bieber’s online store.
JUSTIN BIEBER CANCELS GERMAN TV APPEARANCE
Justin Bieber cancelled an appearance on the German game show Wetten Dass after contestant Samuel Koch was severely injured during one of the challenges. Bieber later tweeted, “Just wanted to let my people in Germany know I won’t be on Wetten Dass tonight as an accident has taken place and we all don’t think it is right to continue.”
WOMAN ATTACKED BY LOVATO WAITING FOR APOLOGY
Alex Welch, the tour dancer Demi Lovato allegedly attacked before entering rehab, recently said that she’s still waiting for an apology from Lovato. According to People magazine, representatives for Demi have said that the conditions of the Disney star’s treatment have made it impossible to reach out to Welch, who sustained a black eye and a bruised cheek bone but no permanent damage.
DURAN DURAN TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE TODAY
Due to popular demand, Duran Duran are releasing their new single, “All You Need Is Now,” one week early. It’s available for download today, exclusively on iTunes. WILL.I.AM SUFFERING FROM TINNITUS
Will.i.am has revealed that he is suffering from Tinnitus — “a constant annoying ringing in the ears, often caused by loud noise exposure.” The Black Eyed Peas’ frontman told British paper The Sun that he “doesn’t know” how long he’s had it, but that it’s “gradually got worse.”

It’s not yet 2011, but Katy Perry is already planning ahead for the tail end of next year. The pop star has just announced new dates beginning in October in the U-K and Ireland on her Teenage Dream tour. Lady Gaga has a fan in Giorgio Armani. According to ContactMusic.com, the famous designer issued a statement about contributing clothes to Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, saying that he’s “delighted” to be a part of it, and that “her energy, eccentricity and her extraordinary interpretative talent come over at their very best in a live context.”
GAGA IN ZOOLANDER 2?
MTV News recently caught up with Owen Wilson for a little chat about Zoolander 2, which will hopefully begin shooting sometime in 2011. The actor spoke a little about the film, and he also added an interesting tidbit — that he thinks Lady Gaga would be perfect for a cameo role in the movie. SWIFT QUESTIONED ABOUT GYLLENHAAL
Even though Taylor Swift has been named Entertainment Weekly’s 2010 Entertainer of the Year, that doesn’t mean the magazine was going to let the country singer dodge a question about Jake Gyllenhaal. During the interview, a reporter asked if Taylor has seen Jake’s new film, Love & Other Drugs. She quick smiled and replied, “It’s a good movie.” Later, the reporter asked about Us Weekly’s feature of the couple’s Thanksgiving retreat, to which Taylor replied, “I write in great detail about my personal life, but I don’t talk about it.”

Rolling Stone has compiled their top albums of 2010. Kanye West’s explosive My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy tops the list, followed by The Black Keys’ GRAMMY nominated album Brothers. Elton John and Leon Russell come in at number three with The Union, followed by The Suburbs by Arcade Fire at four and Jamey Johnson’s The Guitar Song in the five spot. Vampire Weekend’s 2010 record Contra, Drake’s Thank Me Later, Robert Plant’s Joy, Recovery by Eminem and This is Happening by LCD Soundsystem round out the top ten.
KERI TALKS “PRETTY GIRL ROCK” REMIX
Even though everyone is talking about Keri Hilson’s “The Way You Love Me” video, the singer recently told us new details about her lead single, “Pretty Girl Rock.” The Atlanta native linked up with Kanye West, who previously guest featured on her “Knock You Down,” to put new verses on the female anthem (See Related Cut #5). ROB THOMAS SCARES MATCHBOX FANS
As we previously reported, matchbox twenty has been practicing together this week, gearing up for their New Year’s Day show in Oklahoma, and also writing for their next album. Well frontman Rob Thomas wrote something on his Twitter account that gave fans of the band a little scare. Rob said that he “had some good days playing with matchbox” and that “today is the last.” Apparently, some people misunderstood what he wrote because he tweeted almost immediately afterward, “When I say today is my last day playing with matchbox, I just mean for this month. MARK RONSON WANTS TO DJ THE ROYAL WEDDING
Mark Ronson is going after the gig of a lifetime. According to British paper The Sun, the DJ wants to perform at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton next year. The paper adds that he might have an in already, as apparently Prince Harry has already seen him spin live and Ronson says that he’s, “totally clued up about my genre of music.”
BROOKE WHITE TO MAKE ACTING DEBUT
Former American Idol contestant Brooke White is making the leap from singing to acting. According to the Associated Press, she’ll be starring in TV movie titled Change of Plans, even though she has no professional acting experience. The soundtrack to the film will also feature three of her songs. Change of Plans premieres January 8th at 8 PM Eastern on FOX.
Brooke finished fifth on the seventh season of American Idol.
JOHN MAYER SELLING APARTMENT AT A LOSS
John Mayer is selling his Los Angeles apartment, and apparently, it’s for a pretty big loss. According to BangShowbiz.com, the singer-songwriter put the home on the market for 1.3-million bucks, which is almost 500-thousand dollars less than he paid for the bachelor pad in 2006. Sources say that the house is in the upscale Pacific Palisades area and comes with “classy furniture, cozy fireplaces, purple velvet curtains and a disco ball.”
MADONNA’S BF TALKS SOME MORE
Madonna’s boyfriend, Brahim Zaibat, is speaking more about their relationship. The 24-year-old told Britain’s Grazia magazine that his life “did not really change” since the pair started dating, and that he’s “still the same person.” He also added that he’s not the “jealous kind” and although there’s a big difference in age — Madonna is 52 — they are actually “very alike.”
JAMIE FOXX SHOOTS “FALL FOR YOUR TYPE”
Jamie Foxx has shot the video for his new single, “Fall For Your Type” featuring Drake, which is off his upcoming Best Night Of My Life LP. In a behind-the-scenes clip, the crooner is seen arguing with a lady friend that’s no good for him. Fans can expect the Chris Robinson-directed video to premiere on BET’s 106 & Park on Friday!
