MIKE POSNER TALKS DUKE’S F-LIST!

Mike Posner scored a top-ten hit with “Cooler Than Me” off his debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff.   The 22-year-old singer is a college graduate, who got a degree in Sociology at Duke University in North Carolina.   The school has been in the news of late after a female graduate released her “f**k list,” a document of all her sexual activity while in school.   The doc goes into detail about her sexual interactions and grades men in various categories.   We asked Posner his thoughts on the situation at his alma mater (See Related Cut #2).   Mike Posner just released his video for his second single, “Please Don’t Go.”   You can check it out at Vh1.com.

FAR EAST MOVEMENT TO TOUR WITH LA ROUX

Far East Movement, who scored a huge hit with “Like a G6,” are heading out on the road with La Roux.   The group, which has already toured with the likes of Lady Gaga and Mike Posner in the past six months, will set out on a six-date stint that starts in Baltimore, Maryland on November 7th and ends in New York City on November 18th.   FM re prepping their new single, “Rocketeer,” which features OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.   Their Free Wired album is in stores now.  

RIRI GAGA COLLABO RUMOR NOT TRUE

Last week, rumors swirled around the Internet about a possible Lady Gaga and Rihanna collaboration on the song “Broken Heels.”   MTV News is reporting that the information is not true and the two do not work together on the track.   Rihanna’s new album, Loud, is scheduled to hit stores on November 16th. It will feature guest appearances from Drake and Nicki Minaj.  

NICKI DROPS PINK FRIDAY ALBUM COVER!

The buzz for Nicki Minaj’s debut effort, Pink Friday, continues to build. On Friday, the rapper released an unusual album cover where she’s pictured sitting down with a surprised expression, no arms and elongated legs. According to Akon, it’s small marketing tactics like this that separate the Queens native from any other female emcee. Akon gave his honest opinion on how she was able to position herself as the leading lady of hip hop (See Related Cut #3). Fans will be able to cop Pink Friday on November 22nd.   That’s the same date that Akon’s Stadium album lands in stores.

TAYLOR SWIFT TENDS TO STALK HER FANS

Taylor Swift graces the October 24th issue of Parade Magazine and inside, she reveals how she stalked a fan in Nashville. Taylor was driving near her local mall one day when she spotted an 11-year-old girl wearing her Fearless tour T-shirt. She made a quick u-turn, followed the girl to a video-game store and walked up and said, “Oh, hi. I wanted to meet you.” Apparently the fan didn’t know what to say for three minutes. Taylor said, “Then her mom walked over, burst into tears, and proceeded to tell me that they’d driven all the way from Austin, Texas, just to see where I was discovered.” Taylor’s highly-anticipated third album, Speak Now, will be available worldwide on October 25th.

VADO CO-SIGNS JUSTIN BIEBER’S RAP SKILLS

According to The New York Daily News, Vado is thoroughly impressed with Justin Bieber laying down verses over his song “Speaking In’ Tungs” featuring Cam’Ron. The Dipset rapper stated, “I was shocked! He killed it! He sounded like [Notorious] B.I.G.” The emcee admits that at first he “didn’t believe it” then added, “We need to keep his verse for the remix! We might finish the remix this weekend, and let Justin go first. I’m definitely going to contact him.   I’ll do that ASAP… I might gotta do a remix to one of his tracks.”

NEW ALBUM FROM JAMES BLUNT IN 2011

James Blunt has a release date for his new album.   According to a press release, the effort will be titled Some Kind of Trouble and will be out on January 25th.   You won’t have to wait that long to hear some new music though, as the first single, “Stay The Night,” will be released on November 2nd.   Learn more at JamesBlunt.com.

GAGA IS A PICKY EATER

Lady Gaga is apparently pretty picky when it comes to what she eats.   According to British paper The Sun, the pop star will only eat barbecue on Mondays, Asian food on Tuesdays, Mexican on Wednesdays, American on Thursdays, some sort of meat carving on Fridays, pasta on Saturdays and then roast turkey on Sundays.

AMY WINEHOUSE DOESN’T THINK SHE’S STYLISH

Amy Winehouse doesn’t think that she’s stylish.   In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the embattled singer said that she’s no fashion icon, and that she dresses like she’s “an old Jewish black man,” and like it’s “the ‘50s.”   Read more at ContactMusic.com.

ADAM LAMBERT WANTS TO ACT

Adam Lambert is already a very successful singer, and now it appears that the former American Idol runner-up is ready to try his hand in Hollywood.   The “Whataya Want From Me” singer told the Malay Mail that he did “theater for about ten years in Los Angeles,” so “getting back into acting would be very exciting and something that would make sense.”   He also said that there is nothing imminent, but that he would be open to appearing on the hit program Glee, and that he thinks it’s a “great show.”

AN OLD LETTER FROM MADONNA SURFACES

A letter that was allegedly written by Madonna in 1991 has just surfaced.   According to Billboard, it was written while Madge was filming A League of Their Own and has some choice things to say about co-star Geena Davis and actors in general.   The letter calls Davis a “Barbie doll,” and Madonna also says that she hates “actresses, they have nothing on the house of extravaganza.”   Learn more at Billboard.com.

HAVE KATY AND RUSSELL PICKED A DATE?

Have Katy Perry and Russell Brand finally revealed a wedding date?   Sources told the New York Post that the pair, will be tying the knot at a luxury hotel in India on Saturday as well as 85 friends and family members watch.   The hotel is the same one where Katy and Russell got engaged.   Before the wedding, the whole party is said to be going on a tiger-watching safari.

RUSSELL JOKES ABOUT SEX TAPE WITH KATY

Want to see Katy Perry and Russell Brand in a movie together?   Well Brand said that folks may get even more than they bargained for.   The comedian joked to People that he wants to give the people “what they want,” so the pair is going to “do a sex tape!”   Perry and Brand are set to tie the knot this weekend in India, but it’s doubtful that we’ll get to see videotape of their first night together as husband and wife.  

NEON TREES LOVE ALL THEIR FANS

Neon Trees have been getting a lot of love from both rock and pop fans, which is just fine with frontman Tyler Glenn (See Related Cut #4). Neon Trees will be debuting their video for “1983” in just a few days so be sure to visit their site, FameIsDead.com, to check it out.

PRINCE INVITES JANELLE FOR WELCOME TOUR

Prince has officially announced he tapped Janelle Monáe to be a part of his upcoming Welcome 2 America tour. Billboard reports the legendary pop star has also recruited Maceo Parker, Cassandra Wilson, Sheila E., Mint Condition, Lalah Hathaway, Esperanza Spalding and others to embark on the outing. During a recent press conference at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, the “Purple Rain” singer warned concertgoers to “bring footspray cause it’s gonna be funky.” Visit Billboard.com to learn more about the trek.

According to Rap-Up.com, Diddy-Dirty Money’s debut album, Last Train to Paris, will incorporate a ton of guest features! Puff, Kalenna and Dawn Richard have recorded collaborations with Grace Jones, Usher, T.I., Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Bilal. In addition, the project will receive production credits from Danja, Polow Da Don, Sean Garrett, Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, Swizz Beatz, Rodney Jerkins, D’Mile and Mario Winans. While the disc won’t land until December 14th, fans can anticipate a new single, “Coming Home,” to arrive in coming days! Are you excited yet?

COLDPLAY WIN SONGWRITING AWARDS

BBC News reports that Coldplay has won the Songwriters of the Year award from The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, better known as ASCAP. “Viva La Vida” was honored as “Song of the Year” at the ceremony in London. Taio Cruz was also recognized with the Vanguard Award For Departure. Coldplay were not in attendance as they are currently working on a new album.
