The album comes galloping out of the gates with opener “8 Years,” where Coppenbarger expels the lyrics detailing the band’s history as though he may run out of time as guitars churn around him, culminating in the larynx shredding howl of “there is nothing more gorgeous or covered I have found than the western part of this state right now.” The last line could easily stand as the band’s new statement of purpose, shedding old baggage and refreshed for a new beginning.
Other album standouts include; “Our Names,” which features shimmering guitars swirling around a propulsive drum beat pushing the song forward; the hauntingly beautiful elegy “Everything Is The Same”; and the swirling anthem “Mona Lisa.”
