USHER & B.o.B TOP ITUNES CHART

Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas tops the iTunes singles download chart this week.   Last week’s number one, B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You” featuring Bruno Mars, falls to number six, while his latest single, “Airplanes” featuring Paramore’s Hayley Williams, remains at number two.   Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart” featuring Ludacris is at number three, Ke$ha’s “Your Love is My Drug” moves up a notch to number four and Jay-Z’s “Young Forever” featuring Mr. Hudson rounds out the top five.   B.o.B.’s debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, tops the album download chart, while Bullet for My Valentine come in at number two with Fever. Last week’s number one, Glee — The Music, the Power of Madonna, falls to number three, Lady Antebellum’s Need You Know is at number four and Sons of Sylvia’s Revelation rounds out the top five.

PEAS SCORE ALL-TIME DIGITAL DOWNLOAD RECORD

The Black Eyed Peas’ big 2009 summer hit “I Gotta Feeling” has surpassed Flo Rida’s “Low” to become the most downloaded song in history.   According to Contact Music, the song has been downloaded over 5.5-million times, which is the most since digital song records were started by Nielsen Soundscan in 2003.   “I Gotta Feeling” spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last year.   The song is currently at number 37 on the iTunes singles chart.   <JC>

BEYONCE GETS NEW TATTOO, LEAKS NEW VIDEO

Not only has Beyonce inked the word “Brooklyn” on her left hand, but the singer has also released a new video for a bonus cut from her I Am…Sasha Fierce album. While it’s unclear if Bey’s new tat was really permanent, it’s pretty obvious that she’s repping for her husband, Jay-Z, who hails from the New York borough. TIDBIT: Jim Jonsin told Rap-Up.com that the hardest working woman in show business has already begun recording her fourth studio album. According to the hitmaker, Bey is listening to new material and she may or may not record a track that he just sent to her. The two previously worked together on her smash hit, “Sweet Dreams.”

KE$HA GETS A NEW TAT

Ke$ha was in New York City the other day and took the opportunity to get a new tattoo.   The pop star got a small heart inked on her hand, and you can see a picture of it now at Twitter.com/KeshaSuxx.

KISS LOVES LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga has fans in all different areas of the music business, and that includes KISS bassist Gene Simmons.   According to ContactMusic.com, the musician-turned-reality TV star said that “Bad Romance” singer is a “female version” of his band, and that “she’s not Lady Gaga, she’s really Lady KISS.”   Simmons also said that he “loves” her vibe, and that “she’s the most exciting thing to happen” to music since KISS began.

TRAIN GOES DANCING

Train was on Dancing with the Stars last night, and fortunately, they didn’t take the opportunity to work on their samba.   They did perform during the results show though, and if you missed it, you can see it now at ABC.com.

JORDIN SPARKS IS HEADED TO BROADWAY

Jordin Sparks is headed to Broadway.   According to a press release, the former American Idol will be performing as “Nina Rosario” in the musical In The Heights.   It will be the pop star’s debut on the Great White Way, as a limited 12-week engagement begins in mid-August.   Learn more at InTheHeightsTheMusical.com.

MILEY CYRUS CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF DOLLYWOOD

Miley Cyrus, her father Billy Ray, Kenny Rogers and more will help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Dollywood with a TV special that will air in July.   The special also includes tributes for Dolly Parton and Dollywood from Faith Hill, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and others. The Hallmark Channel Original Special, Dolly Celebrates 25 Years of Dollywood will air on Friday, July 3rd at 8 PM Eastern.  

TAYLOR LEARNS FROM HER FANS

Taylor Swift gets her unique sense of style from her fans.   According to an interview with People.com, the crossover star said that she’s a “big people-watcher” and that seeing fans at meet-and-greets is her “favorite way to be inspired by fashion.”

MICHAEL FRANTI IS SHOOTING A NEW VIDEO

Michael Franti is shooting a brand new music video.   The “Say Hey (I Love You)” singer wrote on his Twitter account that he is heading down to Kingston, Jamaica to shoot the video for his new song, “Shake It.”   The tune will be on Franti’s forthcoming album, Sound of Sunshine, which is due out later this year.

MADONNA GETS NERVOUS

Is Madonna getting nervous about her forthcoming film W.E.?   According to Interview magazine, the Queen of Pop, who co-wrote and is directing the movie, said the costumes are “pretty daunting” and that because it’s a period piece that takes place in the ‘20s and ‘30s, the actual clothes that were worn are in museums and she doesn’t have access to them.   Madonna did say that “a lot of these couture houses have offered to make stuff” for her.   W.E. will star Vera Farmiga, Ewan McGregor and Abbie Cornish, and shooting is set to begin in the summer.

THE STARS COME OUT FOR THE MET GALA

Monday night was the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala benefit and some of the world’s biggest pop stars were in attendance.   Taylor Swift and Katy Perry both walked the red carpet, while Lady Gaga didn’t have the opportunity to because she was too busy getting ready for her four-song set later on that night inside the party.   See pictures of everyone’s outfits now at EOnline.com.

BRET MICHAELS RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL

Yesterday, Bret Michaels’ doctor held a press conference at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona to discuss the rocker’s health in the wake of the brain hemorrhage he suffered 13 days ago.   Dr. Joseph Zabramski revealed that Bret is one of the “lucky people” who can fully recover from a brain hemorrhage, something the Poison singer is on his way to doing.   The physician revealed Bret has been released from the hospital, is continually improving and can now speak well and walk slowly. Zabramski expects Bret to take four to six weeks to notice a big improvement in his state, but he is no longer in critical condition and is now stable.   Michaels will be assessed every two weeks to see how his recovery is going but for now will spend time resting.   There is no word on where Bret is or when he was discharged.
