BIEBER NAMED NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Justin Bieber will receive the Newcomer of the Year award at Hollywood Life’s Young Hollywood Awards next week.   Nick Jonas will take home the Artist of the Year award, thanks to his debut solo album with his band The Administration.   The cast of Twilight will take home some awards, as Nikki Reed will win the Superstar in the Making and Ashley Greene will take home the Young Hollywood Style Icon award.   The vampire ensemble of the popular CW series The Vampire Diaries will be named the Cast to Watch.   Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, will be named the Breakthrough of the Year winner, after co-starring with Cyrus in The Last Song.   The show will be held on May 13th in Los Angeles.  

B.o.B STILL NUMBER ONE!

B.o.B tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a second straight week with his debut single, “Nothin’ on You” featuring Bruno Mars.   After debuting last week at number 12, the rapper’s second single, “Airplanes” featuring Paramore singer Hayley Williams, climbs three spots to number nine.   Rihanna’s former number one song, “Rude Boy,” remains at number two, while Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart” featuring Ludacris rises one spot to number three.   Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” climbs one spot to number four in its 37th week on the chart, while “Hey, Soul Sister” by Train falls two notches to number five.  

3OH!3 TO RELEASE STREETS OF GOLD

3OH!3 will release their new album, Streets Of Gold, on June 29th.   The band’s first single off the effort, “My First Kiss” featuring Ke$ha, is currently streaming on the group’s website.   The Boulder, Colorado-based duo are currently on the Too Fast For Love Tour with Cobra Starship and Travie McCoy.   The trek rolls into Toronto tomorrow.  

FREE NICKELBACK VIDEO

Nickelback is paying homage to the ultimate party in the new video for their current single “This Afternoon.”   The clip, which makes its iTunes debut tomorrow, will be available for free download on the site for 48 hours.   Nickelback heads back out on the road on Wednesday night with a show in Spokane, Washington.      

MILEY CYRUS TO PREMIERE NEW VIDEO

Tomorrow, Miley Cyrus will debut the new video for her single “Can’t Be Tamed.”   The clip will premiere on E! News at 7 PM Eastern and will re-air at 11:30 PM Eastern. Cyrus will also sit down for an exclusive interview with Ryan Seacrest to discuss the video.   The song will be available as a digital single for sale on iTunes on May 18th.   Miley Cyrus will release her Can’t Be Tamed album on June 22nd.  

GAGA IS ON THE COVER OF TIME MAGAZINE

We reported that Lady Gaga was going to be featured in Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, but Gaga’s honor was even more special than most others.   That’s because the “Bad Romance” singer has been chosen to grace the cover of the yearly issue, alongside Bill Clinton and soccer player Didier Drogba.   See the cover now, and read a very nice article about Gaga written by Cyndi Lauper, at Time.com.

MORE MICHAEL FRANTI ALBUM DETAILS

BRUNO MARS COMMENTS ON BEATING RIHANNA

Singer Bruno Mars sat down with Rap-Up.com to talk about the success of his collaborative hit with B.o.B, “Nothin On You.” The crooner couldn’t believe that the song beat out Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” smash for the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. After learning the news, the Hawaiian native experienced “an amazing feeling” and he “felt like, ‘If this song doesn’t go, we’re in the wrong business,’ ’cause we never believed in a song so much.” On May 11th, the world will see just how talented Bruno really is when he releases an EP called It’s Better If You Don’t Understand.

LEONA GETS A “BUZZ” FROM RED BULL

Leona Lewis doesn’t drink alcohol, but she still likes to get a “buzz.”   In an interview with InStyle magazine, the X-Factor winner doesn’t drink because she thinks it “tastes like hairspray,” and when she wants a “little buzz” she’ll drink Red Bull.   Learn more at InStyle.com.

Many artists are talking about Bret Michaels, offering their support to the Poison frontman who is still in hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage. We spoke to Shinedown frontman Brent Smith, who had these kinds words for Michaels (See Related Cut #4). A press conference is being held tomorrow to update the world on Bret’s condition. <SH>

BONO GETS HUMANITARIAN AWARD

Bono received yet another award last week. The U2 singer was honored with the Humanitarian Leadership Award in Washington by the U-S based Atlantic Council. Bono joked to the mostly military audience, “I wonder who let the peacenik in?” Fans can read more about the evening at U2.com now.

CIARA LEAKS NEW SONG FROM BASIC INSTINCT

So far it looks like executive producers The Dream and Tricky Stewart have managed to breathe new life into Ciara, who has just released a new song called “Blauw” (Pronounced like the sound effect of a gunshot). The up beat dance record is sure to get people dancing again. Rap-Up.com has posted the track on their website. Ci Ci’s upcoming fourth studio effort, Basic Instinct, will drop later this summer. ERYKAH BADU PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Erykah Badu got more than what she bargained for after releasing her controversial “Window Seat” video. During a recent interview, the singer stated that she expected the clip to “provoke dialogue” about “freeing oneself of layers,” but she never expected to be charged of disorderly conduct for walking around naked in downtown Dallas’ Dealey Plaza. ALICIA KEYS ON TOP TEN CHART!

Alicia Keys earned another top ten single on the R&B charts with her hit single, “Unthinkable (I’m Ready)” featuring Drake. The slow-jam made its way to the eight spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart. The video for the clip will premiere in the coming weeks. Be sure to listen to the song on her platinum-selling album, The Element of Freedom, which is in stores now.

JAMIE FOXX’S FOURTH ALBUM GET LAUNCH DATE

Jamie Foxx dominated the charts last year with his huge single “Blame It” and many of his fans are wondering what the status of his next project is. The singer recently leaked a buzz single called “Speak French” with Gucci Mane and also issued a song titled “Winner” featuring Justin Timberlake and T.I., however details regarding the album have not yet been revealed. According to SingersRoom.com, Jamie’s fourth disc is tentatively titled Body and is slated for a July 20th release. There you have it.

MELINDA DOOLITTLE PENS BOOK

Melinda Doolittle, who was a contestant on Season Six of American Idol, will release a book this week.   The book, titled Beyond Me, tells her life story and shares her successful leap from a back-up singer to the Idol stage.   It provides a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into American Idol, and features a foreword written by Idol-winner Jordin Sparks.   Beyond Me will arrive in book stores tomorrow.            

DOCTORS TO SPEAK ON BRET’S CONDITION TOMORROW

There are many people wondering about how Bret Michaels is doing after his brain hemorrhage and tomorrow, doctors will set the record straight.   The physicians treating the rocker will hold a press conference to further explain his condition, treatment and prognosis.   According to an update on Bret’s website, the Poison singer is still in critical condition at the ICU under 24-hour supervision. Meanwhile, Michaels’ sister told MTV News that Bret is “getting better every day” and she thinks “he’ll outlive us all.” Stay up to date at BretMichaels.com.  

MADONNA AND TRAINER MAKE UP

Madonna and her longtime trainer Tracey Anderson have worked out their problems.   The two had a falling out after Anderson started dating the head of Madge’s Raising Malawi Charity, Phillip van den Bossche, and refused to come on the last leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour to be with him.   But a source told the New York Post that Madonna and the trainer have smoothed things over and are “definitely on good terms.”
