GAGA’S FATHER THOUGHT SHE WAS MENTALLY UNSTABLE
Lady Gaga has certainly made her mark over the past year, not just with hit singles like “Paparazzi” and “Bad Romance,” but also with the level of performance art she brings to their live and television renditions, which include her “dying” at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and performing with her piano on fire and encased in glass at the American Music Awards last month. When she sat down with Barbara Walters on the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 special, which aired last week, she explained that it took a while for her father to get comfortable with her act. She told Walters, “It wasn’t really so easy for my dad, especially in the beginning. We didn’t talk for months after the first time he saw me play, and my mother told me he was afraid I was, like, mentally unstable.” Gaga has since written a song about her dad and the two are back on speaking terms.
