APL.DE.AP BRINGS AID & MUSIC TO THE PHILIPPINES

According to the Associated Press, Black Eyed Peas singer apl.de.ap has flown to his native Philippines following devastating storms to perform a benefit concert and deliver much-needed aid. Apl planned to stage the concert Thursday evening in Manila during a brief trip to the country.   The Philippines have experienced their worst flooding in 40 years last month when a typhoon dumped heavy rains that triggered landslides and inundated towns, killing 712 people and affecting more than seven million.   In addition to a concert with local artists, apl brought canned goods from California, donated cash and appealed for more money for victims from around the world. The hip-hop singer, who was adopted at 14 and moved to the United States, said he remains proud of his roots.

AVRIL LAVIGNE FILES FOR DIVORCE

Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from her musician husband after three years of marriage.   According to the Associated Press, Lavigne filed for divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley in Los Angeles.   The couple was married in July 2006 and has no children together.   Lavigne cited “irreconcilable differences.”  

FERGIE TO OWN PART OF MIAMI DOLPHINS

It appears that the Miami Dolphins have just gotten another celebrity owner for the team.   According to MTV.com, it’s not official yet, but Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas was approved to be a minority owner of the famed franchise.   Once she signs, she’ll join a slew of other celeb investors including Marc Anthony, Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Jimmy Buffet and Venus and Serena Williams.

TRACK-LISTING FROM GAGA’S RERELEASE

Lady Gaga’s rerelease of her hit album The Fame, The Fame Monster, will include eight new songs, and PerezHilton.com has the track-list.   It includes tunes with titles like “Bad Romance,” So Happy I Could Die” and “Dance In The Dark.”   The album is set to hit shelves on November 23rd.

BRITNEY TOPS BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART

As we reported yesterday, Britney Spears debuts on top of the Billboard Hot 100 with her new single “3.”   Billboard reports Spears is the first artist in over three years to debut at number one on the chart.   The track’s quick ride to the top is fueled by 255-thousand first-week digital downloads.   Last week’s number one song, Jay Sean’s “Down,” drops to number two, while also pushing Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” down to number three.   Jason DeRulo holds steady at number four with “Whatcha Say” while “Run This Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West slides two spots to number five.   The Black Eyed Peas’ long running number one song “I Gotta Feeling” falls one notch to number six.   Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi” slides down one spot to number seven, while Taylor Swift climbs up to number eight with “You Belong With Me,” Owl City’s   “Fireflies” leaps to number nine and Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” falls one notch to round out the top ten.   Meanwhile, 15-year old Canadian singer Justin Bieber has this week’s second best Hot 100 debut, as his “One Less Lonely Girl” bows at number 16.    

WORK HELPED MADONNA GET OVER DIVORCE

It may not seem like Madonna’s divorce from director Guy Ritchie was very taxing on her, but the pop legend is insisting that it was.   Madge told Rolling Stone magazine that it was actually her work that might have saved her life.   Madonna said, “It was a challenging year. I may have thrown myself off a building. I think work saved me, and I’m very grateful.”   Read the whole interview in the current issue of Rolling Stone.

VIDEO OF LEONA LEWIS’ ATTACK

Leona Lewis was injured on Wednesday in London while at a signing for her new autobiography Dreams.   Now there is footage from the apparently unprovoked attack, where you can see the assailant being held down on the ground and Leona being rushed away holding her head. Watch now at NME.com.

GAGA TOUR DETAILS

Gaga has been talking about it on her Twitter for quite some time now, but the pop star’s next North American tour has now been officially announced.   According to a post on her Web site, the Monster Ball will kick off November 27th in Montreal and wrap up with two shows in New York City on January 20th and 21st.   It was also announced that Kid Cudi will be her opening act.   See if Gaga’s going to be coming to a town near you, at LadyGaga.com.

RIHANNA TO PERFORM ON GMA

Rihanna fans get ready.   According to RihannaDaily.com, the “Umbrella” singer will be performing on November 23rd on Good Morning America.   The site reports that she’ll be singing a “new single from her upcoming album.”

THE SCRIPT ON ELLEN

The Script was on Ellen Wednesday, but if you missed it, don’t worry.   The Irish band has posted footage of the performance of their newest single “Breakeven” on their Web site.   See it now at TheScriptMusic.com.

A BON JOVI RESIDENCY?

Nothing is confirmed yet, but Classic Rock magazine is reporting that Bon Jovi could be about to announce a lengthy residency at London’s O2 Arena.   The mag reports that it could be up to 20 dates and will probably take place sometime next year.

TAYLOR SWIFT TO HOST SNL!

Taylor Swift is going to host Saturday Night Live!   According to the Associated Press, the country sweetheart called the opportunity “mind-blowing” and has been “thinking about skit ideas for a long time.”   The “Love Story” singer joins a rare group of musicians that have hosted and performed on the same show.   The list includes Justin Timberlake, Sting and Janet Jackson.   Look for Taylor on the November 7th episode.

KAREN O ON WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Where the Wild Things Are hits theatres today and the woman who worked on the soundtrack, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is talking about her involvement in the project. She says she relates to the film’s director Spike Jonze saying, “We’re both like kids trapped in adult bodies. It was really playful.” Karen worked with members of Deerhunter, The Dead Weather, Liars and more on the soundtrack. The film, based on the children’s book by Maurice Sendak, is out now.

KID CUDI TO TOUR WITH LADY GAGA

Kanye West may not be going on tour with Lady Gaga, but his protégé certainly will. We’ve just learned Kid Cudi will join the princess of pop for the Monster Ball tour. TIMBALAND READIES NEW SINGLE

According to On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, fans should expect Timbaland to unleash a new single today from his upcoming Shock Value 2 album. Described as having a vampire theme reminiscent of Twilight, Timbo’s “Morning After Dark” will be available for downloads on October 27th on iTunes.

Shock Value 2 includes guest appearances from Drake, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. It drops on   November 23rd.

50 CENT MAKES VH1 HISTORY

ThisIs50.com reports 50 Cent’s Behind the Music episode has made ratings history for VH1. The mogul attracted 2.2 million viewers which made the show the most watched cable channel during that time period. He easily beat out Lil Wayne and T.I.’s Behind the Music ratings.

It marks the highest premiere ratings for VH1 since 2000’s Faith Hill program.

HAYLEY WILLIAMS BACK ON TRACK

Hayley Williams tells MTV that she was nervous returning to the stage after a recent bout of laryngitis. The Paramore singer got back on stage this week performing songs off their new album Brand New Eyes. She says so far the shows have been great and says she has been waiting for this intimate club tour all year. Paramore’s new album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart earlier this month. DEATH CAN CALL TWILIGHT A GOOD “LOVE STORY”

Why did Death Cab for Cutie decide to contribute a song to the New Moon soundtrack? Bassist Nick Harmer tells MTV that he was drawn to the Twilight books because it had “vampires and werewolves” but also appreciates that it’s “a good romance novel. It’s a love story. And I that I think really ties into a lot of the material we write as a band.” The song is called “Meet Me on the Equinox” and it’s on The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack, which is out today.
