Frontman Mark Christopher Lee conceived the album to help provoke a debate on the future of music – in terms of how streaming affects new artists and songwriters and how we all as consumers value and “pay” for music.
The 30 second song idea was originally mooted (somewhat jokingly) by US music professor Mike Errico. The Pocket Gods took note and thought if services such as Spotify pay such a tiny royalty to artists after a song has been streamed for 30 seconds and then no more….why not just write and release 30 second songs.
