Summer Salt Share “Speaking in Sonar”
Today, new Epitaph signing Summer Salt share their song “Speaking in Sonar” off their debut album Happy Camper out September 28. On “Speaking Sonar”, the band muses on the confused communication in the early phases of a relationship.
The Austin-based four-piece offers a blend of bossa nova and oldies pop, which they describe as “coral-reef rock.” Mostly self-produced, Happy Camper was mixed by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Black Angels, The Shins), who helped shape its clean and graceful sound. Throughout the album, Summer Salt match their wistful melodies with lyrics that touch on all the best things in life: baseball and major crushes, dolphins and dogs, fast cars and chocolate bars.

New Artist – M.A.D. Premiere’s Debut Single “Everything” via LA Record
Mario Barrio grew up in a family with a long history in music, a third generation guitarist he was never far from it. His passion continued throughout his life leading him to play in the bands Gantez and Avid Dancer who just recently toured the states with the band BORNS. Barrio’s irrepressible energy on stage is a parallel of who he is off it, a coexisting harmony that draws people in and makes them want to be a part of who he is. Influenced by artists like T.Rex, Rolling Stones, 60’s British invasion music, and early 2000’s psychedelic folk, Barrios found his own sound somewhere in between it all. His music is intentional and his sound puts you in a dreamy state of mind, music to listen to on your drive home from your lover that you hate. His projects name M.A.D. Doctrine, is rooted in the Cold War Era. The M.A.D. Doctrine (Mutually Assured Destruction) was an armistice in which two opposing parties halted the use of their Nuclear weapons of mass destruction. The idea was that the threat of using these weapons would stop the opposing side from using their’s as well, and should either party do so it would lead to the total destruction of both. The M.A.D. Doctrine stood out to Barrio’s because of a past relationship in which he says he felt like he was always at war with her.

outsideOUTSIDE – “almostDEAD” feat. Yung Bans – New Single
“‘almostDEAD’ is about your former lover haunting every new relationship you try to make. It’s about drowning those feelings in drugs until you feel numb. Even withdrawal doesn’t hurt as bad as knowing you’ll never get that same fucked up, but perfect, love again. You’d rather almost overdose just to feel nothing than let yourself go back to them,” the band shares on the track.
SIIMBA LIIVES LONG & KAMAU Releases New Single “BAD FOR THE SOUL” Out Now
Described by NPR as “sportive yet serious, playing equal parts esoteric and quizzical,” Brooklyn-based artist SIIMBA LIIVES LONG has received a whirlwind of critical praise thanks to a combination of introspective rhymes and live stunts that can include anything from fire breathing to lion taming. Earlier this year, he revealed a music video for new single “Hooked” that saw SIIMBA undergo a death-defying four-minutes where the Ethiopian-American rapper is suspended from hooks as he unleashes his tale of addiction and quite literally brings the track’s title metaphor to life. SIIMBA also performed this stunt live at Treble FM’s 1 year anniversary event at Brooklyn’s House Of Yes earlier this year- in addition to his trademark fire breathing.
