Because Savage’s vision of life in Atlanta is not that of a grand triumph over impossible odds. His vision is that of a slow, aching tragedy.”

Okey Dokey premieres radiant, colorful “Congenial Man” video
You can’t fully appreciate the long history of recorded music without taking the time to look at the breakups. Whether it’s for good or for the season, Okey Dokey is the product of that natural reformation that occurs when musicians part ways. Fronted by visual artist Aaron Martin and The Weeks’ guitarist Johny Fisher, these two former band mates made the rare decision to revisit creating music together in Fisher’s small cabin about 20 miles outside of Nashville, TN. What occurred was a well blended mix of everything they loved about classic Motown combined with a dash of their psychedelic storytelling roots. With the record and touring band including a revolving group of musicians from bands such as Wild Child, The Weeks, Rayland Baxter Band, Morning Teleportation, Bully and Sol Cat, their upcoming debut album Love You, Mean It has a little bit of treasure for every type of listener.

Singer-songwriter Jake Downs shares his soaring single ‘Wild’
Cambridge-based singer-songwriter Jake Downs prepares to release ‘Wild’, the powerful second single from his forthcoming album ‘Fracture’ via abstract pop label Vox Humana.
‘Wild’ is a story about abuse, emotional pain and vulnerability, expertly expressed in the music. The opening imperative “Take my body”, underscored by the unison piano, immediately alerts us to this subject matter; whilst displaying Jake’s impressive ability as a vocalist. Not formally trained, the rich tonality and maturity in his vocal alludes to years of singing experience, narrating his experience through the highly emotive lyrics, supplemented by the backing of his sister. As Jake pleads “Give me light” beneath tinkering high notes and a quickening in tempo, the song’s sense of desperation and urgency increases before stumbling into a truly uplifting chorus with the climatic “I was always so wild”. A full instrumental accompaniment and a beautiful soaring vocal signals a release. The cutting diction and varying vocal pressure exhibited by Jake throughout, further exemplifies the harrowing dichotomy between his entrapment and freedom.
