Jeff was definitely a solid force in the blues/rock field for quite a while before his untimely passing in 2008. This offering is comprised of previously unreleased material written by Jeff during the period of 1996-98. He is well remembered for his unique ability to easily crank out riffs with his “Axe-on-the-lap” playing style. Recently an event was held at Toronto’s Massey Hall to honor what would have been Jeff’s 50th birthday. With proceeds benefiting the World Eye Cancer Hope organization, the likes of Albert Lee, Walter Trout, Sonny Landreth, Randy Bachman, and a host of others performed.
Jeff has an edgy but not rough voice which lends to his versatility. A lot of the lyrics are relationship related, fitting right into either blues or rock. Daze Of The Night is a slower tune, with a bit of a Cream sound. I Misunderstood is a nice melodic piece, with some well played licks. Moodswing is slow and bluesy. Baby Blue is a slow acoustic ballad. Please picks up the pace with a song reminiscent of the 70’s rock glory days. Love In Her Eyes continues the fast tempo with some nice riffs. Temptation is another nice slower acoustic starting, electric ballad. All The Saints is a slow heart felt acoustic ballad dealing with friends addictions, that could easily fit in a movie soundtrack. Put The Shoe On The Other Foot has the old school blues feel to it. Under A Stone is a slow blues tune. It’s The Last Time is a medium paced blues piece rounding out the release.
