FUSILIER NEW SINGLE
“Make You” is the second single from Fusilier’s forthcoming EP. It is also his musical mission statement: “My vision is Nine Inch Nails meets James Brown,” says Fusilier. “When I say that to friends to describe ‘Make You’ the mixture of wonder and excitement they show is the exact feeling I want to cultivate. I think one of the major duties of any artist is to expand the realm of the possible — to stimulate the imagination of the masses.”
“That kind of provocation proves difficult when there is an opposing force in our culture saying that you should live in awe of trinkets and approval. I actually think that people would love to stop living for candy crush and insta double taps in theory, but in practice no one’s willing to step to the left and live there. Everyone thinks we should have 26 flavors of ice cream, but if you like anything other than vanilla, or even have friends who like rocky road you’re persona non grata in most circles. Make You is my attempt to break the stigma attached to deviance. It’s my contribution to the elevation of imagination in society.”
THE GOLDHEARTS ALBUM STREAM
If it not for Kenny Rogers advice to bass players to write and sing their own songs, this catchy album of grunge, hooks, harmonies, and twang may never have seen the light of day. With a batch of original songs in hand, Bass Player/Songwriter Margy Joughin (Dream Poppies) gambled on the wisdom of Kenny Rogers, sage to all bass players.
Intending to record a few songs, producer Govinda Doyle (Big Jet Plane) gently coaxed Margy across the line from backing to lead vocalist to accidentally record an album. The Goldhearts came to life with with ex-Brisbane mates Tracey Kick, (Dream Poppies) Claire Harris (Razel, Dream Poppies, Godnose, The Shortfall) and Daren Williams (Haba Dudes, Secret Assasins).

EFFIE NEW SINGLE
Effie knew from a young age what career she wanted. Age just 11 she asked her parents if she could ‘go pro’ and signed up with the E Minor Choir. Within just a few years she was being mentored by Lemar, garnering praise from the MOBOs and Radio1 Xtra, but she knew something wasn’t quite right with the formula. Still a teenager, she was being shaped by a team rather than following her own creative convictions, so she walked way from the music world until she was ready to return on her own terms.

JACK & AMANDA PALMER TO RELEASE YOU GOT ME SINGING JULY 15
Amanda Palmer and (her father) Jack Palmer are set to release You Got Me Singing, a lovingly put together album, on July 15th. Amanda sings and plays piano and ukulele, and Jack, a semi-professional choral singer, plays guitar and lends his rich bass voice to a variety of cover songs that span decades.
“The main inspiration behind this record was to share songs and time with my dad,” says Amanda, who was separated from her father when she was less than a year old. “It was a really good reason to spend healing time together, sharing our musical histories, all poetically punctuated by the fact that I was seven months pregnant when we recorded. I knew that from my post at the mixing desk and the mic, this music was being heard in the womb, and so the song selection was really important…we didn’t want this album to sound corny, we wanted it to sound like the connective tissue between three generations. The songs had to be simple.”

TRUDY AND THE ROMANCE “HE SINGS”
The band have thoroughly intrigued over the last year following the release of three eye-catching singles, All My Love, Behave and Baby I’m Blue. Having spent some time recording in Parr Street with Bill Ryder-Jones, they have returned with mutant 50s pop stomper, He Sings.
On He Sings, Oliver Taylor’s intricate guitar playing and distinctive vocals are held in place by a turbulent rhythm section as the band continue to explore blending a combination of shuffling beats, 60 girl group and doo wop sensibilities and a ramshackle DIY aesthetic.

NO JOY NEW SINGLE
Tagging No Joy as “shimmery infectious dream pop” doesn’t work since the band’s live shows are so brutal that it has them sharing the stage with bands like Deafheaven and Fucked Up. Classifying them as “doom shoegaze” doesn’t work either since the band has created records so complex and sonically mature they transcend genres. Nostalgic yet new, loud yet quiet; No Joy’s conflicting reputation cannot be classified because it’s in constant evolution.

A new interview with Brett Dennen and producer Dave Cobb is now featured at The Huffington Post. In the article, the pair discuss making Dennen’s new album, Por Favor, which was released last week on Elektra Records (purchase here) and is already receiving widespread acclaim…
“It’s a thrill to hear Dennen go through this process, uncovering self-truths and forming new questions along the way. Por Favor paves a redemptive journey into a heart that’s not always happy and draws a portrait of a maturing artist mired in shadow pining for daylight…sometimes serene and sometimes fierce, Por Favor nourishes healing assertions and sounds.”—The Huffington Post

This J.Kwest record, “Livstrong ft. J. Ivy,” is about those nights we all know – when we feel ourselves a little too much and go too far. The Vice Life of sex, drugs, and all that is covered like you hear in other songs, but Kwest is witty, lyrical. and honest in talking temptation. Put simply: “This one is for the hood, who try to livstrong/but break down after trying all night long.” He covers text mistakes (“Phone by my side might as well be a trigger”) and the recklessness of All Star Weekend.
