WIRE: SPOTTISWOODE & HIS ENEMIES “DREAMER BOY” VIDEO
WXPN’s The Key blog premiered yet another video from English Dream, the clip for the gorgeously serene, “Dreamer Boy”. Each song on English Dream has an accompanying video of the band in various period clothes performing in front of film footage from different decades of the 20th century. “Dreamer Boy” is actually one of the few videos in the series that does not incorporate propaganda film footage from the British Council archive. Instead, the song is performed against an assortment of ’70s English TV commercials, some of which Spottiswoode still remembers from his childhood. These commercials may seem to satirize the dreams the young boy is having, but they also provide a poignant context for his loneliness.
