Dawn Golden (formerly Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross) has announced his debut LP Still Life to be released May 13th via Downtown Records / Mad Decent. A follow up to his 2011 EP Blow, Dawn Golden, the solo electronic production and songwriting project helmed by Dexter Tortoriello of Houses, has been carefully crafting the album over the past three years. Recorded at the Mad Decent studios in Los Angeles, Still Life is built around a stream-of-conscious craft exploring the doleful voids of addiction, love and death – themes all extremely relevant to Tororiello’s beginnings. “It’s an excavation of my past,” the now-clean Tortoriello says. “I’m far enough away from the reality of these stories now to write with perspective. It’s like putting them behind museum glass. They’re no longer mine anymore.” The album gains its stark emotional perspective though unique production in heavy exploration of sonic textures using frozen cut-ups and creative vocal editing to flip a traditionally-futuristic sound into something that oozes emotion.
