Grounded in the mantra that you should never pigeonhole your musical tastes, label founder Micah brings together a multitude of different musicians giving them the platform to be heard on a massive scale. The artists on the label could slip into each decade they echo seemingly and none would be the wiser. Leading the Retro charge on the label are: Jeremy Carswell, whose music is that 80’s sound from New Wave/Synth Pop to Top 40s/Top of the Pops; Ganesha who breathes life once more into that 90’s Grunge sound. Along with several other artists.
Recently Visionary Noise levelled up their distribution by coming under the umbrella of Virgin Music Group, formally INGrooves but now with the power and recognition of the Virgin name. Virgin has always been a champion of independent music and amazing artists so coming under their distribution network was a no brainer. Virgin Music Group is part of Universal Music Group.
When asked about starting a label Micah had this to say: “After the 2008 bailouts, Some friends and I hosted a number of benefit shows. We hosted these shows for a variety of freedom related causes including Vets for Peace, Food Not Bombs, NORML, and dozens of others. We developed a grassroots festival that ran for years in Houston called, For the Community that has a dynamic history of its own which promoted hundreds of acts, merchants, artists associated with its multistage stacked lineups. After years of hosting these shows, benefits, and festivals, bands brought me CDs with sharpies they had written their band name asking ifI could help them. It was then that I thought of Visionary Noise as a record label. I Began to read through contracts, books, and even textbooks to understand more of what a record label was. It interested me what a record label could be. And I very much wanted to advance the label, musicians, and bands I’d come to love.”
Upcoming from Visionary Noise are their artists being played in gyms, shops and restaurants. Music on promotional compilation albums. A revamped website and logo too. Follow on social media for updates.
