RIHANNA TO STAR IN UPCOMING ACTION FLICK!
According to Variety, Rihanna is gearing up for her first feature film. The pop princess has reportedly signed on to appear in an action film called Battleship. Alongside True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch, she will assist in attempting to save the planet from an alien invasion. Ri Ri’s acting credentials include her recent SNL skit with Adam Samberg and portraying herself in 2006’s Bring It On: All Or Nothing. Hancock’s Peter Berg will direct the film, which is slated for a May 2012 release.
RIHANNA COULDN’T RESIST EMINEM COLLAB
If you listen closely, Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” single is all about domestic violence…a topic that Rihanna felt compelled to be a part of. The songbird told Access Hollywood she wanted to do the duet because “it’s something that, you know, we’ve both experienced, on different sides, different ends of the table.” Ri Ri stated Em “pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that people don’t have a lot of insight on.” She added, “The lyrics were so deep, so beautiful and intense. It’s something that I understood, something I connected with.” The video for “Love The Way You Lie” will premiere this week.
GLEEFUL TEEN CHOICE AWARDS
The men of Glee are co-hosting this year’s Teen Choice Awards alongside Katy Perry. Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale are all helping the songstress this Monday night at 8 PM Eastern on FOX. Nashville native pop singer Ke$ha recently spoke to Paper Magazine about the influence country music and her mother have had on her career. Ke$ha said, “I’m really inspired by country music – my mom wrote country music – and I love Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. I think at some point there might be some country collaborations or records in the future.” Kesha’s mother, Pebe, wrote “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You,” which Dolly Parton recorded.
KE$HA IS A SEXY VEGETARIAN
The results for PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian contest were recently released and Olivia Wilde and The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper top the list. However, PETA now acknowledges that they left someone off the list, Ke$ha. The singer recently told the Phoenix New Times that her compassion for animals includes a meat-free diet.
IDOL EYES JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & MORE
American Idol has some big changes in store for its tenth season. The age limit has been dropped to 15 and Simon Cowell will not be returning to his famed judges’ seat. According to The Hollywood Reporter, after two years away, former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is close to signing a deal to return to the show. THR is also reporting that Fuller is adding to the list of new judge candidates, a wish list that includes singers Justin Timberlake, Chris Issak, Elton John and Harry Connick, Jr. Lythgoe left Idol after the seventh season.
PWT’S ON THE TONIGHT SHOW
The Plain White T’s are going to debut a brand new song on The Tonight Show. It’s titled “Rhythm of Love” and according to a press release, the band shot the video for it in Los Angeles earlier in the month. Be sure to check out The Tonight Show on August 5th to watch the PWT’s performance.
CHRISTINA’S STRUGGLES
Christina Aguilera’s new single “You Lost Me” hasn’t made much of a splash. The song is nowhere to be seen on the Mediabase Pop Charts or the Billboard Hot 100. Her new album, Bionic, is currently at number 60 on the Billboard album chart and has sold just over 200-thousand copies since its release six weeks ago. According to ThatGrapeJuice.net, “You Lost Me” currently sits at number 224 on the iTunes download chart.
SELENA GOMEZ TALKS JUSTIN BIEBER
Selena Gomez may have temporarily lost her voice, but that didn’t stop her from making an appearance on Lopez Tonight earlier this week. With the help of a Dynavox voice-enhancing machine, Gomez sat down with host George Lopez to talk about her good pal Justin Bieber. She joked, “I like to say his name on stage because if I’m performing badly, I say his name and the audience will cheer.” Gomez added that at one show, Bieber asked her to take off her heels to make up for their height difference, but she wouldn’t comply instead telling him, “You’re short, embrace it.” The Dynavox machine Gomez used during the interview was donated in the actress’ name to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
MADONNA PLANNING HUGE CHARITY EVENT
Madonna is reportedly planning an enormous charity concert to raise money for the African country of Malawi, where two of her adopted children are from. According to British paper The Mirror, a source at Madge’s Raising Malawi charity said that it will be a Live Aid style show, and that Madonna has already called in favors from friends, including Bono. The source went on to say that Madonna is planning to make the September event “the biggest fund-raiser the world has ever seen.”

Madonna sat down with USA Today to talk about her new fashion line Material Girl, which is going to be sold exclusively at Macy’s next month. The Queen of Pop said that the clothing “gives young girls an opportunity to express themselves creatively and have fun putting outfits together depending on the occasion or their mood.” Madge also said that she enlisted the help of her 13-year-old daughter Lola for the project because “she’s the fashion police” and “has a point of view on what everyone is wearing.” Read more at USAToday.com.

Chris Daughtry performed on a New York radio station on Tuesday morning, but it seems that the former American Idol contestant had a bit of a problem. Apparently Chris couldn’t remember the words while singing one of his signature songs. He wrote on his Twitter account that he “totally forgot the lyrics to the second verse of ‘It’s Not Over.’” It’s alright Chris — it happens to the best of us!
T.I. GUEST FEATURED ON KANYE’S NEW ALBUM
According to RapRadar.com, DJ Drama spilled the beans that T.I. will definitely appear on Kanye West’s highly anticipated album, Good Ass Job. Tip recently returned from traveling all the way to Hawaii to record in studio with Ye. Further details surrounding the collaboration are sparse.

TRAIN LEARN FROM JOHN MAYER
Train have been in the music business for longer than John Mayer, but that doesn’t mean that the San Francisco rockers aren’t getting educated by the guitar virtuoso while out on the road with him. Train frontman Pat Monahan wrote on Twitter that he’s “learning a lot” from being able to watch John perform every night. The tour brings both acts to Clarkston, Michigan tonight.
JOHN MAYER AND TRAIN HAVE TO CANCEL SHOW
John Mayer and Train had to cancel their show in Hershey, Pennsylvania over the weekend due to an enormous thunderstorm. A post on Mayer’s website says that equipment was “damaged beyond repair,” and that the show will now take place on August 5th. It seems that Christina Milian is handling her divorce from The Dream pretty well. The signer was spotted with and tennis superstar Serena Williams at the Madeo restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night. In addition, one of Milian’s most recent tweets was about seeing Inception, which she described as a “phenomenal movie” that “you must go see.” This comes just weeks after news broke that her ex-husband filed for divorce nine days before she gave birth to the couple’s first child together.
