Kenton Hall & The Necessary Measures Release Classic Pop/Rock Twin Albums Idiopath and Omniopath Building Up To Accompanying Feature Film

Part-rocker, part-baroque-popper Kenton Hall is releasing his debut double albums Idiopath and Omniopath Jan 31st, 2023 with musical group Kenton Hall & The Necessary Measures. The experimental twin albums are releasing in the same way you would expect any Kenton Hall project to – unconventionally.

Made up of 33 1/3 tracks over 3 discs and 2 bonus tracks, Idiopath will be releasing across vinyl and digital. Its companion album, Omniopath, sees each of Idiopath’s tracks reimagined by a collective tour-de-force of musicians including Steve Nieve (Elvis Costello’s band), 80s legends The Swinging Laurels, and astonishing Scottish singer-songwriter Vivien Scotson. Each of the album’s songs will each have a music video which will be compiled into a feature film due for a cinema premiere.

While Idiopath and Omniopath mark the debut for Kenton Hall under Kenton Hall & The Necessary Measures, the release is the long-awaited return to music for Kenton who first found success with the noughties rock band Ist. The band was voted by MOJO readers as one of the Top 20 Songwriter of Substance, and described as “curiously moving” by Lemony Snicket, and as having “smart lyrics and catchy tunes” by Neil Gaiman.

Idiopath’s lead single Maybe released January 17th alongside its music video. Written and directed by Mbili Munthali, the incredible video depicts the highs and lows of a female-female relationship all in a stunning one shot from start to finish. The song itself is led by Hall’s emotive vocals across a bed of restrained electric guitar and airy percussion that lends a dreamy quality to the prog-rock inspired anthem.

Listeners may recognise Kenton Hall from his other prolific works. Hall has written and directed his debut feature film A Dozen Summers (now on Netflix), as well as having written official novellas for Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who, co-written the 10-part Audible drama Getting Better (starring Rhod Gilbert), and written the audio sitcom The Council for AUK Studios which he also starred in. Kenton has also found praise for his 2019 non-fiction book Bisection which details the story of how he survived Bipolar Disorder while parenting twin daughters. Despite the gravity of the subject matter, Hall is proud to maintain Bisection as having more jokes per page than any other book on mental health.

Idiopath and Omnipath will be available digitally and physically January 31st, 2023.
