SG Lewis shares new track ‘Time’ ft. Rhye from debut album, times out 19th February 2021
Following a string of stellar singles drawn from his forthcoming debut album times, London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer SG Lewis today reveals the album’s opening track ‘Time’ – a soaring disco groove featuring Canadian singer Rhye.
“Time is a song that is central to the album thematically and sonically.” says SG Lewis; “Rhye has one of the most unique and distinctive voices out there, and I’ve been a fan for so long. We wrote the song at Rhye’s studio after watching the sun set in Topanga canyon, a memory which makes this song even more special to me. The beat initially started from a piano loop and a Dennis Edwards sample TEED had started working on with Julian, which I then turned into the instrumental late one night in Nashville.”

Following the success of his debut single, “Time Out,” London-based pop singer-songwriter AJ Wander has now shared his second track, “Way We Walk,” out today. The song, produced by Brad Mair (Dean Lewis, Jamie Cullum), is an emotive pop number, demonstrating Wander’s dynamic voice and masterful melodies. Lyrically, “Way We Walk” centers around the end of a relationship, as Wander states, “I wrote ‘Way We Walk’ after an ex and I discovered the lie we’d been living together. We finally saw the truth that we weren’t made for each other and that ignorance isn’t always bliss.” “Way We Walk” is out now and available to stream here.

The Highway Women Release Official Music Video for “The Highway”
Kristen Kae, Drew Haley, Jess Paige, and Bailey James of The Highway Women dropped their EP on November 27th. The EP release was featured on iTunes New Country Releases.
The Highway Women wanted to pay homage to their beautiful home city and state of Nashville, TN by featuring famous landmarks such as The Loveless Cafe on the infamous Natchez Trail. With scenic drone footage, a cliche cruise in a convertible, a snack grab stop at a convenience store, they really bring their fans along for the ride. The girls bring their humor, charm and talent to the table with the creation of this music video produced by James McGettrick (Nashville).
TOLEDO SHARE NEW SINGLE/VIDEO “IT’S ALIVE!”
Alari adds, “The video is a fully analog, traditional, hand-drawn, frame per frame animation made entirely in wax pastels on paper, directed and drawn by a one woman crew. The song is an unconventional love song, and personally I really liked how brilliantly it explores, in contrast with its lulling melody, one of the cruelest aspects of love: the more or less subtle desire to mold and change one another into something more fitting. I tried to include sequences that show visible or invisible hands in the process of sewing, moving, molding the images/characters on screen, up to the point that one doesn’t recognize themselves in the mirror anymore.”

Glitterer Announce New Album ‘Life Is Not A Lesson’
“The major theme in Life Is Not A Lesson is desire,” Russin explains. “ “Are You Sure?” is a song about certainty. My younger self was fascinated with and comfortable in assurances. I felt very sure I had the answers to a lot of questions. What am I doing with my life? What do I like? Who am I? My current self not so much. This song addresses the desires to find these answers while admittedly contradicting itself in the face of their questions, unsure if they’re even important to answer in the first place.”

Newcomer Dalton Mauldin Releases New Single Titled “Deja Vu”
“Deja Vu is a little different than my other songs. It’s probably one of like 5 total love songs I’ve ever written. I wrote this song with the thought of “deja vu” because it was my idea of thinking about someone at different times of the day. at the time there was this girl who I was starting to have feelings for but I wasn’t quite sure if she felt the same way, but I kept catching myself thinking about her a lot more than normal. We had been hanging out and even though I couldn’t tell how she felt about me, a part of me was thinking “there’s no way she doesn’t feel the same.. right?” so wrote this trying to describe how I felt having all of these deja vu moments about her, and also imagining what life could be like being with her.” explains Dalton about his recent release.
LA’s BOYO Shares “Ghost Noise” Ahead of New LP ‘Alone Together in Los Angeles’
On June 2020’s Where Have All My Friends Gone?—which earned praise from NPR Music, FLOOD Magazine, The Alternative, American Songwriter, LA Record, AllMusic (4/5), and more—BOYO gave us a glimpse into the darker side of their psyche as they exposed the loneliness and pain caused by their 2017 health scare. Tilden was eventually diagnosed with and treated for an acute form of frontal lobe epilepsy, but the intense fear and uncertainty of that year resulted in a period of self-isolation during which most of Where Have All My Friends Gone? was written and recorded. That album was an exercise in catharsis—it was the button that needed pressing to disengage the boosters. Alone Together in Los Angeles is its 12-track follow-up that reunites us with Tilden’s brighter side.

Toronto-based experimental-pop, Jane Inc (member of U.S. Girls, Ice Cream, Darlene Shrugg) | Shares Debut Single
This first single plays on some of the album’s wider themes that deal with fragmented self-image and how we see ourselves reflected against the wider world. It weighs up how our surroundings impact our depression with Bezic demonstrating a real sense of vulnerability whilst always placing optimism at the end of the line. “Gem” is Bezic seeing herself refracted in a disco ball, subtly surrendering to the various identities that we form through the images/videos we share online. Sonically, it mirrors some of these fragmented reflections, shifting between slick disco, synthesiser jams and crystalline pop.

Healy Releases New Track “Back on the Fence”
“‘Back on the Fence’ depicts this sort of war with redundancy,” says Healy. “I have trouble following through on positive change, and I’ve begun to develop a sensitivity for when I start to regress into old thought patterns and behaviors—stuff like splitting hairs over the smallest things or ironically losing weeks of life at a time to the thought of eventually dying. Writing “Back on the Fence” helped me acknowledge and confront this pattern and gave me a lot of incentive to break the cycle. Becky and the Birds elevated this song to a higher plane, and she did all of her verse from Sweden in a matter of 2-3 days.”
Norwegian experimental-pop/Avant-rock, Sturle Dagsland (2021 dates w/ Oranssi Pazuzu, RIYL Björk) | Shares new single
Sturle and his brother Sjur put the record together over the last couple of years, using over 40 different and unique instruments to create the sound – more details on these in the press release below, but they include Zimbabwean finger harps, Armenian duduks, and Norwegian billy goat horns. This new single was recorded in an old water reserve in Prenzlauerberg, Berlin, using a vintage autoharp at the Großer Wasserspeicher. It helps emphasise some of Sturle’s shifting falsetto – an ethereal tone that courses over thwarting percussion and crystalline soundscapes.
Glistening dream-pop songwriter, Claude, announces debut EP ‘Enactor’ and shares video for first single “Screen” via Side Hustle Records
American Songwriter, who premiered the song and video, says the song “shows Chicago musician Claudia Ferme delivering an eerie, evocative meditation on our collective social media anxiety,” adding, “You’d think social media would make us less lonely—particularly during a time when it’s literally illegal to hang out with other people IRL. Think again.”
