Out Today: Anadolu psych legends BaBa ZuLa share ‘Hayvan Gibi’ album
BaBa ZuLa describe their sound as ‘Psychedelic Istanbul Rock ‘n Roll’ – a heady mixture that laces the classic Anadolu psych sound with modern electronics, dubwise studio smarts, and fiery left-field sonic radicalism. Founded in 1996 after the break up of experimental band ZeN, BaBa ZuLa began by scoring for film, before developing a style that pushed the classic Turkish psych sound of the 1970s forward into the 21st century. The group have also seen collaborations with artists as diverse as dub master Mad Professor, jazz legend Bugge Wesseltoft, and Jaki Liebezeit of krautrock supremos Can.
Iyamah delivers nourishing new single ‘KYWK’
UK chanteuse Iyamah continues her slew of releases with gorgeous new single ‘KYWK’, out today.
Standing for ‘kill you with kindness’, ‘KYWK’ is a serene ballad that allows Iyamah’s decadent vocals to run free amidst delicate guitar strings and subtle percussion. It marks her third single release to be taken from her forthcoming EP Truth EP 2, following on from ‘Balance’ and ‘Won’t Work’.

As Autumn descends around us, the latest track from the Berlin-based duo finds them attempting to out-run the encroaching darkness, while dreaming of a new dawn that will surely come tomorrow.
“Watching the world with restless eyes… keep up, don’t fall behind” sings Teresa Woischiski, lyrics defiant with notions of escapism, yet tinted with a world-wary melancholy. “Night Summer Waiting, what you keep within, you can do without”, she lulls, her crystalline vocal rising through layers of dreamy atmospheric synthesisers and elegiac piano motifs.

Bristol-born, LA based singer-songwriter Lauren Aquilina has dropped new single ‘Swap Places’, out on Friday 2nd October.
Underpinned by Lauren’s sensual vocals, ‘Swap Places’ is a wistful modern pop ballad that tackles themes of insecurity and a lack of self-confidence. The track was co-written with Michelle Buzz, who has previously worked with Katy Perry, and Evan Voytas, who has worked with Shawn Mendes.
