ABISHA returns with new single ‘ONE NIGHT’
Abisha is an inspirational new British singer/songwriter, using her voice to empower other black, queer women. She recently opened up a compelling conversation across her platform, detailing how it felt to grow up being the only biracial, queer woman in her hometown of Devon, before relocating to London in her late teens.

“YES, I HAVE GHOSTS” is the first new song from David Gilmour in five years and features the voice and harp playing of his daughter Romany. The inspiration for the track was Polly Samson’s new novel ‘A Theatre for Dreamers’.
Of ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ Gilmour says “I was working on this song just as we went into lockdown and had to cancel a session with backing singers but, as it turned out, the solution was right here and I couldn’t be happier with the way Romany’s voice blends with mine and her beautiful harp playing has been another revelation.”

Last year Beezewax released their acclaimed 7th studio album Peace Jazz. A record that saw them further dig into their brand of fuzzed out and powerful indie which has earned them comparisons to bands as diverse as Dinosaur Jr. and Phoenix.

It is said that a change is as good as a rest. For Brighton’s Chappaqua Wrestling, the arrival of new single “Football” is the product of both embracing change, and an unfortunately enforced break from touring. A few short months ago the band were set for a summer of festivals – including the likes of The Great Escape and Truck Festival – but the UK’s Lockdown tied them to the somewhat narrower horizons of the studio, as newly-recorded track Football emerged as something of a change of pace. If “Football” is the sound of a band breaking from routine and being torn from their comfort zone then it does not show, the band gleefully side-stepping some of the nostalgic sounds of recent singles “Plant Trees”, “Is She Happy Turning On Her Side?” and “Early”, and instead leaning into a world of big-hearted, world-weary, understated anthemia.

Now he returns with his second solo record, Disparitions via Montreal indie label, Michel Records (Halo Maud, Alex Nicol), that draws on a similar wiry post-punk palette while fusing it with the sounds of 80s jangle-pop. This first track, ‘Springsteen’ is a real highlight for me with Jonathan exploring the idea of missing home whilst on tour, overlaying twelve-string guitar with sun-washed vocals leaving for something he terms as “spaghetti western rock”.

According to ABISHA, “‘One Night’ was one of those songs that just needed to be written. I had so much emotion inside me and I needed so badly to release it. It’s an apology… reminiscence and closure in the form of a song. As soon as I got to the studio, the words poured out because it was so fresh within me. Toby Scott nailed the production instantly and encapsulated the message perfectly.”
Levellers release new single ‘Generation Fear’
Written during the album recording process, the track evolved as a full band collaboration and its immediacy comes from a lot of the band laying their parts down in one take.
With its powerful title, ‘Generation Fear’ reaches out to those who don’t feel they’ve created any problems yet now live in fear amongst the division and differences in the world. The track reminds us that we need to rise above humanity’s disregard for the world and transcend the hatred spreading across society, and particularly virulent on social media.
