Through her impressionistic and emotive approach to contemporary R&B and pop, Alaina Castillo expresses the wide range of complicated emotions that make up modern life as it stands, reflecting the singular perspective of her generation. Her debut EP Antisocial Butterfly—as well as the forthcoming EP the voicenotes —signals a promising new musical talent set to captivate listeners with her genre-bending sound and razor-sharp honesty.
While working with collaborator and producer RØMANS (Khalid, Ella Mai, Demi Lovato) on her debut EP Antisocial Butterfly, Castillo was encouraged to tap into her Latinx heritage by singing in both English and Spanish which not only garnered the attention of major media outlets, but also the attention of Spotify. Castillo recently became the first US artist to be featured on Spotify’s Global Emerging Artist Program RADAR. The campaign includes a mini-documentary, a COLORS Studios session, Spotify Singles recordings, and music video support and promotion across Spotify’s social channels. Her most recent single “Ocean Waves” has already accumulated 1 million streams a week after release.
