Ani Glass releases debut album ‘MIRORES’ this week
In 2020, Ani Glass’s debut album MIRORES finally sees the light of day. The follow up to her debut EP FFRWYDRAD TAWEL (2017, Recordiau Neb) is the culmination of over four years developing her own sound and visionary artistry. With its tapestry of electronic sounds, elliptical melodies and samples threaded into a song cycle, MIRORES is based around the idea of movement and progress – one which takes us on a journey around her hometown of Cardiff. You can hear Ani’s recorded sounds of the urban landscape throughout; the movement of traffic and people and the magical yet infrequent sounds of nature coming together to create the score of a city’s symphony.
LIDO PIMIENTA RELEASES SONG AND VIDEO “NADA”
Lido Pimienta has unveiled “Nada,” a collaboration with Li Saumet, frontwoman of Colombian group Bomba Estéreo. The song and music video arrive on the heels of the announcement of Miss Colombia (April 17 via ANTI-), which was picked up by Pitchfork, NY Times, NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Billboard, i-D, the Fader and Refinery29.

I’d always wanted to do a video on skates, but after building the entire storyboard and getting hyped about the idea, I realised that the band probably couldn’t skate amazingly. My workaround was to green screen the top half of them and stick it on top of some amazing skaters doing a cool routine in a sick 80s roller disco.”

Kicking off her Miami performances, Nicole Moudaber brings back her beloved South Beach pool party tradition after a two year hiatus with her In The Mood Pool Party on Thursday, March 19 at the Shelborne Hotel featuring two sets from the Mood Records founder. Presented by Space Invaders, fans of Nicole’s Mood brand of events and takeovers can look forward to her welcoming German techno heavyweights Pan-Pot, Italian techno maestro Luigi Madonna, Vatos Locos founder Hector, Cuttin’ Headz favorites Jesse Calosso back-to-back Jean Pierre, and technical wizard ENDO. In addition to a nighttime techno throwdown featuring a solo set from Nicole Moudaber, she’ll also perform a second DJ set back-to-back with a very special guest.

Eric Littmann has spent much of the past decade mining his voice as a recording artist with the tools most readily at hand: his command of computational biology (a day job turned life-pursuit) alongside a healthy saturation in the tropes of the 90’s /early aughts college radio charts. Filtering these data through the evolving traditions of home recording, Littmann has shared north of a dozen releases under the monikers Steve Sobs and Phantom Power as well as producing acclaimed records by artists such as Julie Byrne, Yohuna, Emily Yacina, GABI and many others. Littmann’s peak to post-internet collaborative project Phantom Posse has sustained a life across five albums that amounts to some of the producer’s richest statements. 2020’s Forever Underground is the most recent entry in this undulating series, with its title nodding to the project’s unapologetically nostalgic leanings and also quite literally to the homages woven within that reference elusive NYC graffiti artists and their concrete subjects. On subway-tempo’d instrumentals such as “ZNO on Canal”, or “SEBO9 on the Bridge”, a photographic memory is made audible. These documents coupled with the diverse voices featured across the album imply a kind of anthropology that at times mirrors Littmann’s science work, all coursing under the fabric of the producer’s intimate chamber synth melodies.
