Tanzania Safari is blessed with some of the most extraordinary natural landscapes of the African continent, and many of them are protected in national parks. The big five are there, just a glance away. And many other extraordinary animals, like cheetahs or giraffes. Taking a Tanzania safari is, therefore, a unique experience!
In the context of this post, I will focus on Tanzania safaris made from Arusha, in the northern region of Tanzania, namely with game drives on Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Not only because it was my experience, but also because it is undoubtedly one of the best regions to go on safari in Africa.
So, in the aftermath of my recent trip to Tanzania, I now answer some of the most frequently asked questions about organizing a Tanzania Safari from Arusha. There are 10 tips to help you organize a safari, including money and costs; the feasibility of doing so in a rented jeep; the best time to go on a safari in Tanzania; or which company to choose. My Safari in Tanzania Tour
DAY 0. Arrival in Arusha from Zanzibar. Afternoon in Arusha, visiting the city and the local market on my own. Late afternoon at the pool of the fantastic African Tulip hotel.
DAY 1. Pickup from the hotel at 8:00 am in Arusha, and passage at the agency’s offices. Game drive on Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at Isoitok Camp, after visiting a nearby Maasai village.
DAY 2. In the morning, travel to the Serengeti, taking care not to enter the park too early (permits are 24 hours long). Safari in the Serengeti on a continuous journey north, to the central area of the national park. Dinner and overnight at Baobab Serengeti Camp.
DAY 3. Full day safari across the Serengeti plains, traveling from the center to the south of the park. Dinner and overnight at Angata Migration Camp.
DAY 4. Full day safari in the Southern Serengeti / Ngorongoro Environmental Conservation Area to observe the great wildebeest migration. Dinner and overnight at Angata Migration Camp.
DAY 5. Another game drive in the region, then proceeding towards the Ngorongoro Crater (the descent would be the next day). Dinner and overnight at Pakulala Safari Camp.
DAY 6. Early in the morning, descend to the Ngorongoro Crater for the last safari game drive in Tanzania Safari. In the afternoon, return to Arusha with an overnight stay at Christina House. The following morning, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport and return flight to Portugal.
