RUIN LUST: Bestial New York City Metal Outfit To Release Choir Of Babel LP Via 20 Buck Spin In March
New York City’s RUIN LUST has spent the better part of the last decade spreading a drape of black violence across the dank basement corners of the deepest underground. Though temporarily dormant after their debut, the band returned with new music in 2019 with their Sacrifice album. And now, in 2020, the third RUIN LUST atrocity Choir Of Babel marks the band’s 20 Buck Spin debut, the label this week unveiling the record’s cover art, track listing, and lead single “Prison Of Sentient Horror” through all digital providers.

Today, Glide Magazine premiered the track’s video and notes, “Clocking in at just seventeen minutes, the tune is a slowburning groover that encapsulates the chemistry that exists within The Third Mind.” Created and directed by Jonathan Segel (Camper Van Beethoven, Sparklehorse), the video features the bonus version of the song remixed by the Grammy-winning mixing engineer, Tchad Blake (The Black Keys, Sheryl Crow, Arctic Monkeys).

“Sublime Sun Tattoo” is a little, wistful nostalgia study. Looking at frivolous, faded tattoos that seemed so meaningful at some point – a stern demonstration that time makes fools of us all. The second verse draws on a childhood memory my wife shared about hearing Enya for the first time while browsing in one of those shops that sells incense and crystals. Then the whole thing shifts in tempo and production as I tried to emulate that early 90’s Enya production while serenading the reclusive singer – who I adore, by the way. I saw this click bait article a few years ago about how she lives alone in a castle with her cats. It just sounded so perfect. The video was shot by Dustin Seabrook (STILL) in one take at Grand River Tattoo in Elora, Ontario and then I added the animation. And just for the record, yes, I have a “40oz. to Freedom” tattoo.”
Sibling duo Cardiac Half are back with a dose of dark, synth laden alt-pop on their new single & video “Medicine”
Alt-pop outfit Cardiac Half is anything but half-hearted. Siblings Drew and Dylan Miller form the duo, and have been making music together since 2016. The name Cardiac Half holds significant meaning as Dylan lives with a heart condition, and Drew is deaf in his left ear. The group’s latest single sees them exploring a darker, more mature side of the alt-pop songwriting spectrum. Electronic soundscapes and eerie vocal delivery mesh with a singalong worthy chorus and radio ready production to create an offering that will feel familiar but not derivative. Fans of The 1975, LANY, CHVRCHES and Imagine Dragons will all find the perfect dose of these influences within “Medicine”, while also being introduced to a band that is clearly beginning to find their own sound.

Chris Stapleton confirms extensive 2020 “All-American Road Show” headline tour
Chris Stapleton’s “All-American Road Show” will return this summer and fall with an extensive new run of shows including stops at Washington State’s Gorge Amphitheatre on June 20, Atlanta’s Truist Park on July 18, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on October 2 and New York’s Madison Square Garden on October 10. Additionally, on August 29, Stapleton will make his headline debut at Chicago’s famed Wrigley Field with special guests The Highwomen, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and The Dirty Knobs with Mike Campbell. Additional guests along the tour include (in alphabetical order) Dwight Yoakam, Elle King, Hank Williams Jr., Kendell Marvel, Margo Price, Nikki Lane, Sheryl Crow, The Marcus King Band and Yola.
