F1, NBA and World Series Headline Two Months of Packed Action in Singapore

The Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix returns to Marina Bay this weekend, opening a busy stretch of world sport that runs through to mid-November. The NBA season, the World Series, two more Grands Prix, international rugby and the WTA Finals all follow in quick succession.

For fans in Singapore, many of the biggest moments land in the early morning or late at night, so knowing the local start times matters as much as knowing the fixtures. Here is what is coming up and when, for anyone planning their calendar around online sports betting Singapore.

Marina Bay Lights Up First

Race weekend runs from Friday 9 October to Sunday 11 October, around the Marina Centre and Padang area. This year brings a first for the night race: Singapore hosts an F1 Sprint, with the 21-lap race on Saturday 10 October at 17:00, ahead of Grand Prix qualifying at 21:00.

The main event starts at 20:00 on Sunday, with drivers covering 62 laps of the 4.927-kilometre Marina Bay Street Circuit. George Russell won last year’s race, comfortably beating Max Verstappen.

Fans will also see a new generation of cars built under fresh technical rules designed to encourage more overtaking. Rookie Arvid Lindblad makes his night race debut.

Anyone heading to the circuit should plan ahead. Road closures run from 12.01am on Wednesday 7 October to 5.30am on Tuesday 13 October, and trains will run later on each race day to help clear the crowds.

Late October Belongs to America

The NBA season tips off on 20 October in the United States, which is the morning of 21 October in Singapore. The New York Knicks raise their championship banner before hosting a Philadelphia 76ers side featuring LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, with the game starting at 7:30 a.m. Singapore time. The Oklahoma City Thunder then visit the San Antonio Spurs two hours later, a rematch of last season’s Western Conference finals.

Baseball’s showpiece follows days later. The World Series starts with Game 1 on Friday 23 October, and a Game 7, if needed, is scheduled for Saturday 31 October. The series could finish as early as Game 4 on Tuesday 27 October. Because these are US dates, each game falls on the following morning in Singapore.

F1 heads to Texas in between. The United States Grand Prix runs at Circuit of the Americas in Austin on 25 October, starting at 15:00 local time, which is 4 a.m. on 26 October in Singapore.

November Brings Mexico, Rugby and the WTA Finals

The F1 calendar moves straight on to Mexico City, where the race runs on 1 November at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, starting at 14:00 local time. In Singapore, that is 4 a.m. on 2 November.

International rugby’s new Nations Championship returns for its November window. Round 4 runs from 6 to 8 November, opening the Northern Hemisphere series. The fixtures include Scotland against New Zealand on 7 November, England against Australia, and Wales against Japan at the Principality Stadium. The tournament ends with a finals weekend at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, from 27 to 29 November.

Women’s tennis closes its season at a new home. The WTA Finals moved from Saudi Arabia to Indian Wells, California, for this year and run from 8 to 15 November. The WTA asked for the move, and the Saudi Tennis Federation agreed. The event features the season’s eight highest-ranked singles players and doubles teams, and the full field is still being decided.

With the F1 title run-in, a new NBA season and baseball’s biggest stage all overlapping, the next few weeks offer something almost every night for fans in Singapore.
