Boston, MA – September 2026 – Emerging singer-songwriter Abby Hayes from Boston, MA releases her third single, “it isn’t like that,” September 18th. Hayes blends indie-pop production with vulnerable lyrics about her own lived experience. The song delivers a personal explanation of her own fears and being stuck in her own head when it comes to relationships. Inspired by artists like Niamh McCrystal and Gracie Abrams, Hayes used similar production techniques to demonstrate the emotional vulnerability of the song.

Hayes began songwriting in 2023 as well as composing her own music. What started as a creative challenge quickly evolved into a way of processing real-life experiences, shaping the vulnerable and honest sound that defines her music.
“it isn’t like that” follows Hayes’s two prior releases, “i wish i left sooner” (released in May 2026) and “circles” (released in July 2026). “it isn’t like that” was written and composed by Hayes in collaboration with producer Chris Billias at Bristol Studios in Boston. It will be available on all streaming platforms on September 18, 2026.
