Tanisha Deka Releases Poignant New Single “mean it”

Emerging independent singer-songwriter Tanisha Deka unveils her newest single, “mean it,” a delicate yet powerful track that captures the raw ache of a failed relationship. With its soft, sweet melodies and deeply personal lyrics, “mean it” is poised to resonate deeply with listeners navigating the pain of unreciprocated feelings.

Inspired by the likes of Lizzy McAlpine and Gracie Abrams, Tanisha brings her own unique voice to the indie singer-songwriter genre. The track is a delicate blend of melancholic instrumentals and heart-on-sleeve storytelling, culminating in an emotional plea for sincerity in love:

“Hoping that maybe you’ll say that you want me too, and mean it this time.”

Tanisha describes “mean it” as one of her most vulnerable works:

“This song is about caring for someone more than they care for you and, to avoid the pain that comes with that, attempting to deny that you feel much more for that person than they will ever feel for you. Writing it brought these painful feelings to the surface, but it also helped me heal from them.”

Growing up in the Bay Area, California, Tanisha has been writing and performing music since the age of twelve. She writes music that is simultaneously personal and universal, offering emotional connection and a safe haven for listeners through her heartfelt lyrics and smooth melodies. As a South Asian artist, she hopes to inspire others from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue their creative dreams and share their stories with the world.

“mean it” is available now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. The track is the first release from Tanisha in 2025, and she plans to follow it with more music in the coming months.
