It is without a doubt that art gallery owner, David Craig Ellis, knows how to make a grand presentation whether it’s a new show or even a memorial to a friend. He will be launching a weeklong Jamie Ross Memorial / Presentation. Jamie Ross, as some know, was a prolific guitarist who was the official opening act for KISS member Ace Frehley. David and Jamie were close friends for many years.
“Jamie and I have been best friends since the day we met on Broadway and Bleeker Street 33 years ago. He was dating my friend, we jumped in his car, smoked a bone and listened to his demo on the way to the Holiday Cocktail Lounge. I loved his demo.”
The weeklong memorial which will kick off on April 19th – 24th will feature performances, live readings, a “John Lennon-style” bed-in with Sunday brunch, a life size cardboard cut-out of Jamie, giveaways, videos, flyers, memorabilia and more. Music videos of Jamie’s music will also be playing along with an open bar and a Medium will be tucked away in the back room for those who may want to connect with Jamie. The gallery touchingly called “Not Another GALLERY” is hosting the event located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
“”Not Another GALLERY!” will be decorated floor to ceiling with posters, flyers, and photos of Jamies various bands throughout the years. Lots of party photos, baby pics and photos he took of friends and family. Jamie and I collaborated on a few paintings which will be on display. I’ll start a huge painting of Jamie that everyone else can finish with doodles, signatures, etc. Paint on it, write a message, urinate upon it etc.”
Jamie was close with bands like Enuff Z’Nuff, Ratt and Trixter. He was part of the band “Like It” with John Ostronomy, Mike Lincoln, David Messinger and Hide Kobayshi. They came out with an EP titled “Stay Alive” with tracks like “Bump N Grind” and “Mommy”. Friends of Jamie will be on hand as well performing acoustic versions of the band’s songs. In addition, close friends and family will be there to offer their fond memories of Jamie and his talent. The calendar of events is below.
