On October 7th, Singer, Composer, Harpist, Thistle, will release two singles, Spirits of the Dead along with a video and The Raven. Both songs are from her new album “Mysterious Star: A Tribute To Poe”, scheduled for release globally on January 19th, 2024. The album illustrates the mystery and romanticism of Edgar Allan Poe’s literature through song.
Thistle produced and directed the music video for “Spirits of the Dead,” which was shot in the floor to ceiling marble antechamber of one of America’s first crematoriums. The poem imagines the journey of the soul among the stars after death, and the song’s simple arrangement for harp, voice, and percussion conveys the power and gravity of this spiritual message. Images of Thistle singing and playing harp by candlelight in a sparkling sequined dress are punctuated by shots of muses in flowing white gowns, frolicking among the marble obelisks of a cemetery at dusk.
