Having navigated the UK music scene over a number of years, Brighton’s Hybrid Kid upped sticks, choosing to spend an extended period of time in their spiritual home of America. The country’s eclectic mix of genre had a pronounced effect on a band who heartily embraced their love of Garage Rock and Americana. The shift was easy, as Hybrid Kid made their mark on the locals through their expansive riffs, hooky choruses and raucous live shows.
Now back in their homeland, a more complete, mature band, Hybrid Kid have made an impact upon local music industry tastemakers. With their song ‘Dropped’ hitting 290k streams on Spotify support began to follow from the likes of Tom Robinson (“Outstanding guitar work…bloomin’ fantastic”) on BBC 6 Music, Melita Dennett on BBC Sussex, Brighton’s Latest TV and The Roadee, to name but a few.
Now, with the cold dark nights of winter fast approaching, Hybrid Kid have returned with the warm, campfire glow of latest single, Miracle. Heavily influenced by their love of Americana, the track shines brightly as mournful bass lines are propelled by the freight train shuffle of drum beats, brought together beautifully by the impactful vocals and sublime guitar work of frontman Danny Lloyd.
The enthusiasm and energy of Hybrid Kid is an extension of three wayward personalities with the aforementioned Danny (guitar/vocals) joined by Tim (bass), and Fabio (drums) who, collectively, bring a dynamic and experimental edge to this band of rock’n’roll travellers.
