BLACK LUNG: new video “Death Grip” feat. Shawna Potter of War On Women

About the video: “Death Grip is a critique of the funeral industry and those who profit off grief and death. It’s not a secret that funeral homes often take advantage of people at their most vulnerable, charging exorbitant prices for caskets and services. We decided to invite our good friend Shawna Potter (the frontwoman of War On Women and a champion of progressive values) to write and sing the chorus, as well as star in the video. My vision for the music video was a 70s-style occult horror, equal parts creepy and campy, and I’m pretty proud of what we pulled off with a shoestring budget. We see our antagonist, “The Death Capitalist”, relishing in his wicked business, until Shawna’s character, “The Witch of Justice”, kidnaps him. She takes him to her lair, where her acolytes (the band) mete out his punishment: torture by the power of rock n’ roll. It was a ton of fun to create and Jordan Miller (cinematographer/Gypsy Cab Productions) really helped us achieve our vision with his expertise in horror filmmaking.”

Incorporating themes of LGTBQ romance, female sexuality and self-discovery into her songwriting, Xana has crafted a release packed with timeless anthems, steeped in personal experience. The nostalgic influences are evident through the lively guitars and thumping drums of tracks like the brooding “12 Missed Calls”, as Xana laments over an ex re-appearing at exactly the wrong time.

Historical Power Metal Force CIVIL WAR Releases Second Single “Battle Of Life” + Lyric Video

Swedish power metal veterans CIVIL WAR – featuring former members of Sabaton – drop another martial power-anthem with their newest single “Battle Of Life”, beginning with synthesizer elements that lead into the band’s epic power metal trademark with a catchy chorus. The lyrics deal with inner conflicts and war – focusing on changing one’s perspective, conquering fears and calling on one’s inner strength. These topics serve also as inspiration for the impressive lyric video that’s released in tandem today!

Stockholm post-punk band V**gra Boys (**=ia for spam) return this week with new single “Troglodyte” from their recently announced album Cave World out July 8th via YEAR0001. Setting the tone thematically and sonically for the rest of the album, “Troglodyte” is a driving and upbeat exploration into the chaos and confusion of current events through the comparison of modern man with troglodytes (I.E. cave dwellers). Stewing on our current state of humanity, rife with violence and science-denial, headman Sebastian Murphy notes “People look down at apes as primitive life forms, but we’re just this horrible, lazy society killing each other and starting wars, while they’re able to love and feel. Does that make them the true ape or us?”

NEW // B Live Taps Harry Shotta For ‘Winters Coming’

If you were to grab a dictionary and look up the word “diverse” — B Live’s catalogue would likely be cited as a reference point. Spawning from the crackling, warped 140 BPM worlds of UK garage, bassline, grime as well as the plasticine, sharp-edged dystopia that is dubstep, drum-n-bass and electronic music; you’d be hard-pressed to find a rhymer more travelled than unsung UK legend, B Live. Continuing the wordsmith’s recent prolific run, B Live is back with his street-level scorcher ‘Winters Coming’.

Psych-pop artist, Daydream Review, signs with Side Hustle Records & shares new single, “Sensory Deprivation,” + U.S. tour dates

Written, recorded and produced by Montez, “Sensory Deprivation” offers the musician the space to yearn, to love, and to be loved in return, exploring what it really means to be in a long-term relationship. Montez explains, “The song is about something that can be common in long term relationships–that while you’re still in love and enjoy each other’s time, the demands of life and work. can pull you away from your partner/wife/husband, and make you feel undesired. I’m definitely being a little dramatic in this song, but I think the chorus makes a nice point, especially in a long term relationship, that you only want to feel loved. The sonic qualities are kind of reflective of this, bouncing between a quiet state of unstated desire, and then a more emotionally charged statement of wanting that love.”

Maddie Jay and Bobbing Team up for new Single “Marie”: an ode to Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

The bouncing track floats the listener easily through the heavy feeling of watching your world cave in on you, wall by wall. Driven by funk elements, you hardly expect the weight of the lyrics as life seems to spiral. Lighthearted yet still a bit dark, “Marie” reflects how Gen-Z tends to discuss their mental health; burying the more serious topics underneath deflective humor.

The Revivalists Release “You Said It All” (Made In Muscle Shoals) Song and Video

“I started writing ‘You Said It All’ during a time in my life when I found the things surrounding me were receding. The song was sparked late at night during an underground Mardi Gras parade and I found myself in a surreal world I didn’t recognize only blocks from my house. The first lines of the song came straight from that experience of being in a place I knew so well but seeing it as an unknown landscape full of danger and possibility. The original demo was built on sounds referencing back to 90s rap but when we arranged the song for The Revivalists it got a more live band treatment. FAME Studios is known for making hits in an era where everything was played live and you can feel it in the room. Recording “You Said It All” there inspired us to bring the same energy we put into our live shows into this version of the song,” shares drummer Andrew Campanelli.

Alessia Cara uses pop music as a diary. Since catapulting to stardom with the quintessential loner anthem “Here” in 2015, the singer/songwriter has matured alongside her audience, capturing the highs and lows of adolescence and young adulthood with camera-like clarity. In many ways, Cara’s new era is a snapshot of an artist finally processing her meteoric rise in the music industry.

Of the song, Luke states, “‘Me, Myself, and I’ is a really exciting song for us to have on the record that we’ve spent the last two years making. We’re all big fans of Jon Bellion and when he sent us the idea, we instantly connected with it. So much of what we had been writing lyrically was extremely introspective and this song fit like a puzzle piece with the rest of the album. We then ended up finishing it with Jon, Jason, Pete and Mick.”
