NYC avant-pop duo STAR ROVER presents ‘Ghosts of New York State’ single + THE ACADEMY OF SUN new 7″ vinyl
NYC collective Star Rover has announced they will release their self-titled album ‘Star Rover’ this autumn, a coalescence of the ideas they had been investigating over the years into a cohesive yet eclectic statement. Here they meld the improvisational energy of their live sets with the depth and fidelity of the studio to create something dynamic, aggressive, nostalgic and beautiful all at once.
Conscious reggae/hip-hop hybrid band The Late Ones are known for using their music as a tool to speak out against oppression and injustice by bringing a youthful and powerful presence to the reggae community, along with a unique spin by bringing in old school hip hop to the mix. Think of the Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, and A Tribe Called Quest collaborating with The Mighty Diamonds or Culture, and you get a sense of what this band’s sound is like.
You know that bittersweet feeling when you’re reminiscing over something that maybe could’ve worked out but it didn’t? Well, the up-and-coming indie pop duo Bestfriend have a new song all about that. The lead single off their upcoming EP places i’ve lived, “Hannah in the City” is a song about the what if’s. A little sweet and a little angsty, the track is relatable in all the best ways. Drenched in a rosy haze of nostalgia, “Hannah in the City” will transport you into a hypnagogic state, caught between intimate memories and missed opportunities. The moment you didn’t say something when you should’ve. The tricky decision you had to do that maybe you’re still second-guessing. Bittersweet and tender, Bestfriend’s dreamy bedroom pop melodies hit close to home, and do so with remarkable sensibility.

Science fiction fueled band ALPHA BOÖTIS have released their single “Serpens Nebula” over at Next Mosh. The song is from the band’s upcoming release Jump to Alpha Bootis which is out on September 24th.
The band commented “Originally written for a horror-themed composition contest around Halloween 2017, Serpens Nebula is our spookiest and darkest song to date. To achieve this dark sound, we channeled DOOM, John Carpenter and Pokemon Red/Green’s Lavender Town theme in our sound design and composition. I took the opportunity to include baritone guitar, tuned to G, to make the riffs extra gnarly. Of course, it’s still an Alpha Boötis song, so there are still disco beats and optimistic melodies sprinkled here and there.”
During a decade of touring with Crystal Fighters, Eleanor K was a big part of their inclusive, celebratory sound as they rose from a warehouse in east London to playing some of the world’s biggest festivals and arenas. She recently took the first step towards releasing her debut solo album ‘Everytime’s The Last Time’ by sharing its first single ‘All In’, which starred Jack Fox in the video. The song’s dark-hued, introspective emotions were a world apart from the feelgood vibes of Crystal Fighters, but it made for a compelling single which earned tastemaker support from Wonderland, Noctis and more.
Artist: Snow White In The Dark – Album: Alive
The song is inspired by Goethe’s tragedy Faust. It is about human desire to desire more and more knowledge and eternal youth. That’s why many people mess with the dark side of life (OPs, crime, etc.) which in the end doesn’t lead to anything good. People lose their minds and forget the really valuable things in life like love and kindness.
